In the weeks following Christmas Holiday countdown, the immediate shock of Magneto’s abduction of you, and the revelations inside the Foundry, began to settle into something quieter. The confrontation that followed at Xavier’s mansion had exposed old tensions beneath the team’s trust in Charles.

It forced everyone to confront the fact that Magneto had known far more about the X-Men than they had known about him. Though training, classes, and ordinary routines gradually resumed, the questions raised by Magneto's true motives and the lingering doubt and uncertainty within the team did not disappear entirely.

For Scott, the aftermath proved harder to leave behind than he admitted. As field leader, he had spent hours unable to locate you, unable to act, and unable to identify any mistake that might have prevented what happened.

Even as the mansion returned to normal, that lack of control lingered beneath his usual discipline, pulling at older instincts and memories he had spent years burying beneath preparation, responsibility, and the role Charles Xavier first entrusted to him.
