As the weeks passed, life at Xavier’s mansion settled into something more familiar. You continued recovering from the upheaval of the summer while training more regularly with the X-Men, learning the rhythms of the school, and becoming increasingly comfortable around the people who had once been strangers standing outside a medical chamber.

The unexplained secondary power that had emerged during the apartment fire remained poorly understood, but its strange interactions with Jean Grey and Elias Mercer ensured that Hank, Charles, and the others continued studying it while you gradually became a more capable and trusted presence within the team.

By late October 1999, that growing familiarity had begun extending beyond missions and training. Bobby Drake in particular had become an easy, frequent companion around the mansion—someone whose restless energy made ordinary days feel lighter even as much of his inner life remained hidden beneath that ease.

On October 23rd, a Saturday with no mission demanding your attention, and with the mansion beginning to feel unusually confining, Bobby decided the two of you needed a day away from Xavier’s world entirely and pulled you toward Manhattan for nothing more serious than food, games, stores, and whatever else caught his attention.
