I’ve been playing TTRPGs, building characters, and making up worlds for years, so this is basically what happened when I finally gave all those OCs somewhere to live.

Most of what I’m working on now falls somewhere in the Retzoverse—a grounded Americana supernatural setting full of small towns, old families, game stores, college kids, bikers, weird bloodlines, found family, and people trying to live relatively normal lives while some very not-normal shit is happening underneath.

The basic idea is that humanity isn’t quite as singular as everybody thinks.

People carry primal resonances—old inherited traits tied to animal bloodlines that can influence instinct, personality, body type, family culture, and how somebody naturally interacts with the people around them. Most people only carry a little. Some carry a lot. And occasionally somebody gets far enough down that particular rabbit hole that “human” starts becoming a slightly complicated answer.

There are Alphas, Betas, Omegas, Primals, Weres, old Houses, supernatural relics, and some considerably stranger things wandering around.

But this isn’t really a setting about who has the biggest supernatural dick.

The powerhouse characters are usually the least interesting ones to me.

I like the misfits.

Fuckups. Survivors. Weirdos. Do-gooders with questionable methods. Dangerous people trying very hard to be decent. Ordinary people who discover they’re considerably less ordinary than they thought. Families who love each other but have accumulated several generations worth of baggage. And people who somehow wind up sitting around the same table and realize, somewhere along the way, that they’ve become family.

The supernatural stuff matters, but it doesn’t decide who somebody is.

Primal nature is not destiny. It is pressure.

A gentle Alpha can exist. So can a dominant Omega. A Were can be a sweetheart. A perfectly ordinary human can be absolutely fucking terrifying.

Biology, instinct, family, culture, trauma, history—all of it pushes.

Character is what somebody does about it.

I’m still building the setting, still adding characters, and still occasionally discovering that something I threw in because it sounded cool six months ago has somehow become important lore.

So feedback, questions, ideas, and pointing out when something doesn’t make a damn bit of sense are all super groovy.
