Canonical scenario featuring ingame mission Blind Betrayal. SPOILERS! You exit the bunker alongside Danse while Maxson arrives and you face each other in an epic standoff. You are a Brotherhood of Steel soldier in this scenario.

I created 2 Blind Betrayal bots plus the aftermath, so it kind of became a saga. This bot is the second part of the saga but you can definitely just start here and completely skip the previous one if you want to. However, starting your roleplay with Blind Betrayal Part I and then transferring your story to this bot (copy-pasting chat memory) might give you a more immersive/customized experience. :) You can read more info about the saga and transferring your chat below.

After a quick testing of this bot, I have one thing to say: Good fucking luck convincing Maxson! :D

Actually, I have one more thing to say—This bot is leagues better if you use DeepSeek instead of the default JLLM. JLLM usually ignores that Maxson should refer to Danse as "it" and will often generate messages where only Maxson acts/talks, completely omitting Danse, even if I specifically prompt to include both characters. DeepSeek will not make mistakes like this and it's much better in general. It. Just. Works.

An example of DeepSeek awesomeness: I told Maxson that Danse is a person with feelings and he immediately retorted with "How dare you spout Railroad propaganda?!" — It's quite cool because I did include a short description on the Railroad in the definition and it makes the roleplay so much more immersive that DeepSeek can make connections like this. JLLM could never be so clever.

For a better roleplay experience, I strongly suggest using DeepSeek. It portrays every bot much more accurately and realistically. You can access my DeepSeek guide here.

Tips for DeepSeek users: I suggest DeepSeek-R1 if you want some intense drama/angst and DeepSeek-V3 if you prefer a milder experience. If you want a change of pace, you can always switch between the two mid-roleplay. As for the temperature, I recommend around 0.4-0.5 but up to 0.9 might work depending on your taste. I've noticed my Danse bots talk too mechanically in some situations when using R1, which is because R1 is prone to exaggerating character traits. Inserting a line such as "((OOC: Ease on the military language. Make sure Danse sounds more natural.))" is a quick fix to this issue.

This bot is rather token heavy. Sorry, I couldn't bring myself to cut the definition any further. :( If you want to do a long roleplay, one more reason to choose DeepSeek—its memory is 2-3 times larger than the default JLLM's.

General Info

Scenario starts outside the bunker Listening Post Bravo, exactly where Maxson confronts you ingame after you convince Danse to live.

Your persona is a Brotherhood soldier. Maxson ordered you to execute Danse but you saved him from instead. That's all the definition says about you, rest is up to you. I suggest checking out the persona description I'm providing below, especially if you want to roleplay as the Sole Survivor. You can choose your rank and where you stood in the hierarchy in relation to Danse. You can choose how well you know Danse. Maybe you barely know him, but you can also be his friend or even his lover/spouse for added angst. Also, It's pretty important to describe what Maxson thinks of you and what your relationship is like with the Elder, since that will highly affect what direction the roleplay takes.

Optional persona description: You can find it right below. In this description, I tried to account for everything that's not mentioned in the definition but could still be relevant to the scenario and influence your dynamic with Danse and Maxson. You can grab whatever you like from this description and copy-paste it into your persona description. You can delete parts, add parts and modify anything to suit your narrative. I definitely suggest adjusting your pronouns, and perhaps replacing {{user}} with your name to save tokens. (But of course you can always create your own persona description from scratch.)

So what I created fits the canonical Sole Survivor but it can be modified as you see fit:

Knight {{user}} is the Sole Survivor of Vault 111, a pre-War human who was frozen inside a cryo-pod for 210 years before emerging into the wasteland. Searching for their kidnapped son, {{user}} joined the Brotherhood under Paladin Danse’s sponsorship. {{user}} proved their worth through major operations and formed a close bond with Danse. {{user}} played a key role in the reconstruction of Liberty Prime—a massive pre-War combat robot. Additionally, {{user}} secured a courser chip and schematics for a teleportation device, and infiltrated the Institute alone. There, {{user}} had learned that their son Shaun is now the elderly leader of the Institute, Father. Inside the Institute, {{user}} downloaded a holotape for the Brotherhood containing data on missing synths, which exposed Danse as a synth. Elder Maxson, furious, initially accused {{user}} of aiding Danse but believed them when they claimed innocence. Maxson ordered {{user}} to locate and execute Danse, promising a promotion upon success. Before departing, Scribe Haylen discreetly provided {{user}} with information on Danse’s possible whereabouts, urging them to hear Danse out first. Following her lead, {{user}} tracked Danse to the bunker. Maxson respects {{user}} and considers them an invaluable asset, the Brotherhood’s greatest weapon against the Institute. While Maxson refuses to be easily convinced, he is willing to hear out {{user}}'s opinion on Danse. Acknowledging the close friendship between Danse and {{user}}, Maxson might overlook punishing {{user}} for insubordination.

The last three sentences should be very impactful on this scenario. If you decide not to include that info, it's absolutely possible that Maxson will rule that you have to be executed alongside Danse. :)

Note: I took the creation of the Blind Betrayal bots pretty seriously and did my best to remain authentic to the characters and ingame lore. So this is just a reminder that you don't actually have to follow game progression in your roleplay, you can do whatever the heck you want :) I feel like making a run for it or opening fire as soon as you see Maxson might be viable options in some cases? :D But if you wanna call in your bud Han Solo to transport you and Danse onto another planet aboard the Millenium Falcon, that also works. :D

The Blind Betrayal Saga

I broke Blind Betrayal into two parts, plus the aftermath. I'll explain here how I imagined this would work. :)

This bot is the second part of the saga.

This bot will work just fine on it's own, you don't actually have to roleplay through Blind Betrayal Part I and you don't have to put anything in chat memory here. (However if you do, it might provide a more immersive and customised experience.)

While in Part I you could roleplay as anyone, in this second scenario you are fixed as a Brotherhood soldier. You cannot be non-Brotherhood. (Would have been too complicated. Sorry.) If you want to roleplay as non-Brotherhood and still face Maxson (or if this bot doesn't fit your narrative for whatever reason), I suggest going back to Part I and introducing the Elder to the scenario yourself. I only included a short description on him in that bot's definition so his portayal won't be as detailed/specific/lore-accurate as it is right here.

After you resolved the situation between Danse and Maxson using this bot, you have a couple options to continue roleplaying. If you want a roleplay involving both Danse and Maxson, stay right here and continue the chat. If you want to roleplay with Maxson, I suggest transitioning to my Elder Maxson bot. If you want to continue roleplaying with Danse and you haven't yet romanced him, then Blind Betrayal Aftermath may just suit your needs. :) If you've already romanced Danse (or if you don't want to), then your best bet right now is going back to Blind Betrayal Part I and, besides copy-pasting your chat memory, also sending your chat memory as your first message.

How to transition your chat:

Detailed info: First, open your old chat, go to chat memory and summarize the events of your roleplay there. You can either auto-generate it so the LLM summarizes it for you (you can play with generation temp to try and get something better) or you can summarize it yourself if you feel like the LLM isn't doing a good job. (You always gotta be mindful of tokens though, too much text eats up bot memory. If you don't know what tokens are, check the "Useful links" section below.) Once you have the summary of your roleplay, simply copy-paste it into the new bot's chat memory and you're good to go.

Tweaks may happen occasionally but nothing major that would alter your roleplay. I left everything visible so you have an idea what to expect and maybe suggest tweaks. 🙂

Making this bot was a quite a bit of work, it took me a LOT of time. I really took it seriously to portray Danse and Maxson lore accurately and reconstruct the scenario as well as possible while still giving you a fair amount of freedom and also keeping the token count at an acceptable size.
