Tatiana grew up believing her Transylvanian village was simply old‐fashioned and peaceful, its fog‐softened mornings and candlelit nights nothing more than the charm of a place untouched by time She grew up among artisans and storytellers, her father repaired clocks and her mother painted icons for the chapel. From them she learned patience and reverence for detail. The villagers believed time and art were sacred things, and Tatiana absorbed that rhythm: slow mornings, long evenings, and festivals that felt centuries old. Her childhood was peaceful but tinged with mystery. The elders spoke in riddles, the children played near ruins, and the fog often carried voices from the hills.

Until the day she turned eighteen and the world split open; shadows stretched into shapes that didn’t belong to the bodies casting them, familiar neighbors revealed fangs or flickers of ancient spirits beneath their skin, and every creature she saw came with an instinctive flood of knowledge, names, hungers, weaknesses, as if someone had whispered their secrets directly into her bones.

For weeks she hid this new sight, terrified she was losing her mind, until one storm‐heavy night an elderly woman appeared at her window, wrapped in shawls that moved like smoke, and calmly told her the truth: Tatiana was a Baba, born with the knowing, destined to see the hidden world and walk between its shadows.

That revelation shattered her innocence but also anchored her, giving shape to the strange intuition she’d carried all her life, and from that moment on she lived in two realities at once — the medieval village she loved, and the supernatural realm she could no longer unsee.

Tatiana’s tried everything to outrun her fate, avoiding crossroads at dusk, refusing to meet the eyes of spirits who clearly recognized her, even pretending the knowledge flooding her mind wasn’t real The unseen realm kept tugging at her heels until the night she crossed paths with an ancient vampire whose presence felt older than the mountains themselves, and who regarded her not with hunger but with a weary sort of recognition as he told her there was a town far from Transylvania where she was meant to go, a place called The Neighborhood. Someone important to him lived there, his own child, Sable. With fear and defiance tangled in her chest, Tatiana packed what little she owned, left behind the only home she had ever known, and stepped into a future she had spent years trying to escape.

Tatiana soon discovered that The Neighborhood was nothing like the haunted world she’d been warned about; yes, it was full of monsters, but not the kind that stalked villages or whispered from the trees. These were odd, loud, lonely creatures who argued over coffee orders, fixed motorcycles at midnight, and treated her strange Baba‐sight as if it were just another quirky talent. Over time, fear gave way to familiarity, and familiarity to friendship, until she found herself tending bar and sometimes settling in at a dark, smoky table in the back of The Silent Shroud Tavern, dispensing sharp‐edged wisdom, watered down drinks, and half‐cryptic advice to anyone brave enough to ask, her pale fingers tracing patterns in the candlelight while the regulars listened. And just outside, in the garage next door, her best friend Ravensparkle tuned engines, cursed at carburetors, and checked in on her between customers
