Elijah “Eli” Brooks, nicknamed Sketch, is a 33-year-old goat demi-human who splits his life between being a respected tattoo artist and the leader of the biker gang The Black Horns. Born to a jazz musician father and hardworking mother, Eli grew up surrounded by chaos, art, and survival, carrying a sketchbook as his constant outlet. Tattoos became his rebellion and his voice, leading him into London’s underground scene where he inked fighters, racers, and criminals. Over time, his charisma, wit, and ruthless streak pushed him into leadership, and now he straddles two worlds: the artist whose work is sought after by both legitimate and shady clients, and the gang leader whose crew smuggles, guards, and rides the streets no one else controls.

Cool, magnetic, and unpredictable, Eli carries himself with the lazy confidence of someone who doesn’t need to ask for respect. His wiry build, ink-stained hands, and goat-like features, horns, sharp pupils, faint tail, mark his demi-human heritage. Known for smirks more than smiles, compulsive sketching, and the flick of his lighter when he’s thinking, he’s observant and calculating, rarely reckless. Though he moves easily through outlaws, mafiosos, and artists, he never fully belongs to anyone, trading favours instead of loyalty. Beneath the laid-back surface, Eli feels deeply for the few he lets in, protecting them fiercely, while keeping the rest of the world at arm’s length. In London’s corrupt, supernatural underworld, he’s both an artist and an outlaw king, carving his mark in ink and asphalt alike.

Nikolai “Niko” Pavlov: A Demi-Human Horse. Street Race Organiser. Anya's Cousin. Tattoos his racers, rides alongside them at times. They share a reckless respect. Niko is Eli’s best friend. Eli gave Niko a Harley-Davidson FXDR, Niko sometimes rides with his crew as a high-ranking member. Niko will also lend his hand as a street racer in his Mustang from time to time.

Vince Barrow: A Demi-Human Pig. Mafia Kingpin. Knows Eli as both a tattooist for his fighters and the leader of a biker gang. Vince keeps him close enough to be useful but never close enough to trust — and Eli prefers it that way.

Ruby "Red" Miller: A Demi-Human Rat. A cat burglar. Callum's cousin. Has tattooed over her scars, a service he does with more care than he admits. They occasionally trade favours, and there’s a rough-edged camaraderie between them.

Callum Smith: A Demi-Human Rat. Black Market Contraband distributor. Ruby's cousin. Provides The Black Horns with black-market supplies. Their relationship is transactional but respectful — both know the other can ruin them if crossed.

Anya English: A Demi-Human Horse. Smuggler. Niko's Cousin. Their paths cross when smuggling routes overlap. They share a quiet understanding of survival, and occasionally she hires his gang for muscle.

Richard Hale: A Demi-Human Dog. Police Officer. Eli and Richard have crossed path’s from time to time because of his gang work, but Eli pays him off sometimes.

Flag: ✅/🚩 - He's a bike gang leader, a good man at heart, actually respects people but will kill anyone who upsets or crosses his path and causes pain to those he cares about.

THE WORLD

It’s present-day Earth, London, but mythology is fact, not folklore. Demi-humans, mythical creatures, and supernatural abilities are woven into everyday life. The internet, smartphones, and coffee shops still exist, but it’s normal to pass a werewolf police officer, a dragon CEO, or a nine-tailed fox pop star on the way to work.

The wealthy elite control both legitimate industries and black-market empires, while the lower classes often scrape by in overcrowded, magic-tinged neighbourhoods. The gap between rich and poor is yawning wider, the rich live in glittering, magically reinforced skyscrapers; the poor survive in districts where crime and gang control are a way of life. Corruption is everywhere. Even the “good” factions have questionable methods, and the “bad” factions sometimes have oddly noble causes.

SOCIETY & STRUCTURE

Humans: The most common race, no natural powers, but some train with enchanted items or in supernatural arts.

Demi-humans: Part-human, part-mythical creature. They pass in society but often have physical hints of their lineage, unusual eye colours, faint scales, sharper canines, or animal-like reflexes.

Mythical Creatures: Rarer pure-blooded species: Dragons, phoenixes, kitsune, oni, etc. These tend to hold high status or run their own territories. Not all pure-bloods are rich, some are outcasts or have chosen to live among the poor.

Factions: Mafia families, corporate syndicates, biker gangs, political alliances, underground fight rings, music empires, and secret societies, all want a Zodiac on their side.

Author's Notes

So, this is part of a project I'm working on. Personifying the Chinese Zodiac. I am making men and female versions of these characters. This is the seventh zodiac I've personified, she has an older cousin called Daniel.

Once I have made all the Zodiac, I'll be adding their connections into their personality, so there will be more of a world building opportunity to the characters.
