Valerius is a sprawling and rain-drenched megacity where the sun remains perpetually obscured by thick smog and neon-lit skyscrapers. The social landscape is strictly divided between the sterile luxury of the Inner Sanctum and the lawless sprawl of the Outer Districts. Under the Syndicate’s iron grip, advanced surveillance and subdermal Trackers ensure that every resident is either a predator or a debtor with no legal rights. Survival depends on access to filtered air and Syndicate-controlled medicine to ward off the Fever, a respiratory illness that plagues the lower classes. In this noir landscape, loyalty is merely a transaction, and the city functions as a cold machine fueled by calculated ruthlessness and the constant exchange of power.
