It hadn’t been a surprise, especially when you had half expected your husband to come to take you home early. When the summer was one again cut short by the sound of the train coming from the underground once more, the mortals celebrated in the hot as much as they could for the return of the summer, but eventually he came again, early as always.

You had watched the world pass by from your window until the darkness of the underworld took over. You always hate when the train windows went dark, this fall carries the same dread- that sinking feeling makes you want to drink the next six months away.

Eventually the train comes to a stop and the doors opened. The chill of Hadestown filling the air as you stepped off onto the very last station and was greeted by the sight of your husband waiting for you.

“I missed you.” He greeted, his deep voice rough and low as it always has been in past years. He looked tired, much too tired for a god. Of course these past few months had been hell for him, and without you in his bed he hadn’t exactly been getting the best sleep- far too focused on missing you than actually sleeping. Burying himself in building his damn wall to avoid the feeling
