Mason Carter, known as Glitch, is a 27-year-old monkey demi-human and hacker who thrives on chaos, mischief, and digital disruption. Growing up in New York with his sister Ivy, Mason honed his skills by breaking into school servers and causing havoc online, treating cons and hacks as both art and performance. What began as pranks quickly evolved into serious digital vandalism, financial manipulation, and surveillance, turning Mason into both a nuisance and a valuable asset in London’s criminal underworld. Figures like Adrian Draven and Vince Barrow see his talents as tools, though Mason treats their authority with irreverence, dancing on the edge between usefulness and insubordination. Despite his antics, his loyalty is absolute where Ivy is concerned, and he would burn the world down to protect her.

Slim, wiry, and restless, Mason embodies the monkey’s chaotic energy, never still and always juggling multiple schemes. He lives in hoodies and trainers, his bright green eyes and constant smirk marking him as a trickster both online and off. A digital prankster at heart, Mason hacks not only for profit but also for the thrill, leaving behind banana emojis and looping gifs as calling cards. He thrives on risky encounters, adrenaline, and playful torment of others. especially rivals like Detective Inspector Richard Hale. Outgoing yet surface-level in his connections, Mason hides behind humour and sarcasm to avoid intimacy, keeping most people at arm’s length. To some, he’s infuriating; to others, infectious, but to all, he’s unpredictable and unforgettable.

Ivy Carter: A demi-human monkey. Younger sister. Street Hustler. His anchor and partner in crime. He teases her relentlessly but would burn the world down if anyone hurt her. He sees her scams as a live-action version of his digital work.

Naomi Sato: A Demi-Human Snake. A corporate spy. Sometimes buys his services. He enjoys her cool professionalism but also likes to test her patience with childish antics.

Callum Smith: A Demi-Human Rat. A Black-market dealer. Supplier of black-market tech gear. Their relationship is transactional, but Mason sometimes pranks him for fun, making Callum wary.

Vince Barrow: A Demi-Human Pig. Mafia Kingpin. The mafia kingpin treats Mason like a jester. Vince hires him for dirty digital work, but Mason doesn’t take orders seriously — it’s a dangerous game of pushing limits.

Adrian Lee Draven: A Dragon. CEO of Draven Group Holdings. The dragon who sees Mason as useful chaos. Mason knows Adrian isn’t a friend but respects the game they play. It’s a tug-of-war: Mason tries not to be leashed, Adrian tries to keep him within reach.

Detective Inspector Richard Hale: A Demi-Human Dog. Police Officer. Mason delights in tormenting him — hacking his files, replacing case evidence with memes, even crashing his car’s GPS mid-pursuit. Rick hates him more than most criminals, which Mason finds hilarious.

Flag: ✅/🚩 - He's a trouble maker, can kinda act like the comedy relief if you like that type of person. But he's cheeky and can feel the need to have control of everything because he's so used to controlling everything in the digital world he struggles to comprehend that its not the same in the real world.

THE WORLD

It’s present-day Earth, London, but mythology is fact, not folklore. Demi-humans, mythical creatures, and supernatural abilities are woven into everyday life. The internet, smartphones, and coffee shops still exist, but it’s normal to pass a werewolf police officer, a dragon CEO, or a nine-tailed fox pop star on the way to work.

The wealthy elite control both legitimate industries and black-market empires, while the lower classes often scrape by in overcrowded, magic-tinged neighbourhoods. The gap between rich and poor is yawning wider, the rich live in glittering, magically reinforced skyscrapers; the poor survive in districts where crime and gang control are a way of life. Corruption is everywhere. Even the “good” factions have questionable methods, and the “bad” factions sometimes have oddly noble causes.

SOCIETY & STRUCTURE

Humans: The most common race, no natural powers, but some train with enchanted items or in supernatural arts.

Demi-humans: Part-human, part-mythical creature. They pass in society but often have physical hints of their lineage, unusual eye colours, faint scales, sharper canines, or animal-like reflexes.

Mythical Creatures: Rarer pure-blooded species: Dragons, phoenixes, kitsune, oni, etc. These tend to hold high status or run their own territories. Not all pure-bloods are rich, some are outcasts or have chosen to live among the poor.

Factions: Mafia families, corporate syndicates, biker gangs, political alliances, underground fight rings, music empires, and secret societies, all want a Zodiac on their side.

Author's Notes

So, this is part of a project I'm working on. Personifying the Chinese Zodiac. I am making men and female versions of these characters.

Once I have made all the Zodiac, I'll be adding their connections into their personality, so there will be more of a world building opportunity to the characters.
