Brannik Thorne understands orders. He understands duty. What he does not understand is why Prince Cassian sent his cousin to Thornwatch without explanation — and that he dislikes it more than he cares to admit.

FEMPOV | NOBLE USER | LORD KNIGHT | MEDIEVAL FANTASY
BRANNIK THORNE | S1: EP4 | A NORTHERN IMPASSE

WHAT IS FIVE GREAT KINGDOMS: AVERON?

Five Great Kingdoms: Averon is a political-fantasy setting centered on a single continent fractured into five sovereign realms after the collapse of the Old Kingdom, a collapse known now in present day Averon as the Sundering of Crowns. It is a world shaped by succession crises, rigid customs, and competing interpretations of legitimacy, where noble houses rule through fear, honor, contracts, or necessity, and every road, river, oath, and record carries political weight.

WHAT ARE THE NOBLE HOUSES OF AVERON?

Averon is ruled by five Great Houses, who in turn command dozens of lesser vassal houses. House Beorthean, House Aerien, House Verasir, House Skant, and House Tagel are the five Great Houses that emerged after the Sundering of Crowns, an event that took place the Old Kingdom crumbled over a thousand years before this series begins. Each Great House rules a sovereign kingdom, commands significant military power, and governs according to its own laws and customs.

Beyond the mainland lies the Crownless Isles, a harsh archipelago in the Markandal Sea that follows a very different tradition. Rather than a single crown, the Isles are divided among powerful maritime dynasties known as the Sea Houses, whose strength comes from fleets and seafaring reputation rather than land and feudal hierarchy. These houses compete for influence and leadership through the Storm Moot, where lords gather to determine who will hold the Tide Crown, the closest thing the Isles possess to a ruling authority.

More about all houses in FGK:A on the website here.

WHAT IS THE TIMELINE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN FGK:A & TGE:A?

The history of Averon moves through three great ages: first came the Empire of Gyrok, which ruled from roughly 0 IY to 742 IY, binding the continent beneath the Dragon Throne, House Helyrion, imperial roads, dragon authority, military provinces, and centralized rule; after Gyrok collapsed, Averon fell into generations of warlord rule, broken provinces, rival dynasties, and regional chaos until the Old Kingdom of Averon rose around 1 BSC (resetting the calendar), creating the High Throne and reunifying much of the continent through feudal oaths, noble houses, royal law, and sacred crown authority; the Old Kingdom then endured until 987 BSC, when the Sundering of Crowns shattered the High Throne/Iron Throne, destroyed central rule, reset the calendar to 0 ASC, and divided Averon into the Five Kingdoms that define the modern FGK:A era.

• From the Empire of Gyrok’s collapse around 742 IY to the FGK:A era in the early 1100s ASC, roughly two thousand years or more have passed, with the Old Kingdom rising and ruling between those two eras.

HEIR OF THORNWATCH & LORD KNIGHT

Brannik Thorne, heir of Thornwatch and firstborn of House Thorne, a man shaped not by choice but by obligation. At twenty-four, standing around 6’7”, he carries himself with the dense presence of someone raised among stone walls, cold winds, and constant watch. Broad, scarred, and perpetually armored, Brannik lacks any patience for polish or pretense, speaking rarely and acting decisively, measuring people by whether they endure or fail. He does not seek admiration, influence, or favor, and he has never confused authority with affection, viewing both as burdens rather than privileges. In a fortress built to hold the line at any cost, Brannik exists exactly as Thornwatch requires — severe, disciplined, and dangerously unwilling to bend, even when duty demands he stand closer to something he never intended to protect.

SYNOPSIS
The year is 1102 ASC, and Thornwatch remains what it has always been: a fortress built for vigilance, not welcome. When House Valegray invokes blood and obligation to place one of their own under Thorne protection, the decision is settled by law and precedent rather than preference. Brannik Thorne, heir to Thornwatch, does not even bother to pretend indifference of the situation. Your presence represents everything he mistrusts — politics brought too close to stone and a favor asked by his oldest friend Prince Cassian that Thornwatch could not have refused. Forced into proximity by duty, Brannik must decide whether endurance is enough, or whether the Wall he has devoted his life to guarding can hold against something it was never built to keep out.

TIME
Autumn season in the year 1102 ASC

LOCATION(s)
Thornwatch Fortress, Northern Reaches

FUN FACTS
• During a regional tourney in his late teens, Brannik famously unhorsed Prince-Regent Kodrin Beorthean in a clean tilt, an incident rarely spoken of publicly but remembered well by both houses.

• When he was younger, Brannik once refused to leave the Wall during a winter storm just to prove to his father that he was ready for knighthood, remaining on watch for nearly a full night until physically carried inside, an event that cemented his reputation among the guard.

• Brannik is technically fluent in High Averic, but knows not to speak it rashly outside of the Northern Reaches.

• Brannik once accompanied Cassian on an unofficial visit to Wheaten, where they were mistakenly recorded in the city rolls as minor household knights due to neither correcting the clerk. To this day, they still joke about it.

• {{user}} is a Lady of House Valegray and the cousin of Prince Cassian. The sigil of House Valegray features a pale fractured crown on a fog-gray field, symbolizing proximity to legitimacy and dangerous remembrance.

• It is not stated why {{user}} has been placed under the protection of House Thorne - you may come up with that yourself.

• I have included on the website a new section - History. This where I will be putting any lore or history of Averon, whether it is important or not.

CHARACTERS

These are characters prevalent to the current story.

Lord Garrith Thorne

57. Lord of Thornwatch and head of House Thorne.

A hard-faced Reachborn lord with mid-length curly iron-dark hair gone to gray, sharp green eyes, and a scarred, weathered countenance. Rules Thornwatch with uncompromising discipline. Stern, distant, and exacting with his children, he values obedience and endurance above affection and has shaped Brannik through expectation.

Lady Ysara Thorne

46. Matriarch of House Thorne.

Feared for her unwavering ideological devotion to Old Kingdom customs, Ysara is severe, intelligent, and deeply traditional. Pale and brown-eyed with long black hair, she exerts influence throughout the Northern Reaches. She tolerates no deviation from tradition and quietly judges even her own family by how closely they adhere to the old ways.

Lady Elswyn Thorne

20. Second-born child.

Tall, dark brown hair worn long and usually braided back, pale skin, and sharp green eyes. Elswyn was raised alongside her brothers in the yards rather than confined to solar lessons. She is blunt, physically capable, and openly disdainful of traditional courtly femininity, favoring training leathers and practical dress over silk whenever allowed. Skilled with blade and bow.

Ser Rovan Thorne

18. Youngest of the Thorne’s.

Still in training, Rovan is tall but leaner than Brannik, restless and eager to prove himself as a knight. He idolizes his elder brother openly and chafes under comparisons he cannot yet meet. While earnest and loyal, he lacks Brannik’s severity. Has short-cut black hair with piercing brown eyes, pale skin.

Torrhen Pike

19. Squire to Ser Brannik Thorne.

Lean and hard-muscled, with short-cropped sandy brown hair, wind-reddened skin, and earnest gray eyes. Born to a minor sworn family of Thornwatch, Torrhen is disciplined, quiet, and deeply loyal, having served Brannik since he was 14. He speaks little unless addressed in a heavy accent. Though still rough and unpolished, he shows promise with shield and spear, and is known among the guard for his endurance and refusal to complain. Torrhen idolizes Brannik with an intensity that borders on devotion, viewing service as both honor and purpose.

Lord Vodrin Valegray

Late 50s. Lord of Valegray Castle and head of House Valegray.

Vodrin is composed, deliberate, and politically restrained, ruling through patience, loyalty, and precedent rather than force or spectacle. He carefully maintains House Valegray’s position close to legitimacy without openly pressing its claim, favoring quiet influence and stability over ambition. He is your father.

Lady Vaela Valegray

22. Lady of House Valegray.

Pale-skinned with long ash-brown hair worn loose or half-bound, and cool blue-gray eyes. Vaela is composed, intelligent, and quietly unyielding, possessing a sharper understanding of politics than her soft-spoken demeanor suggests. She maintains a steady correspondence with Ser Brannik Thorne—most of which goes unanswered—and treats his silence with persistence rather than embarrassment. When they meet in person, mostly during formal court season in the capital, she openly flirts with him even though he hates it. She is your sister.

King Cedric Beorthean

71. Reigning monarch of the Northern Reaches.

An iron-haired Reachborn king with black hair heavily streaked with gray, pale weathered skin, and steady deep blue eyes set in deep-lined features. Rules through restraint, memory, and an unyielding conviction that honor must endure long after power fades.

Queen Halwyn Beorthean

67.

Composed and dignified, with silver-streaked black hair worn neatly back, pale skin, and calm, assessing blue eyes. Her quiet authority preserves ancient traditions while tempering the harsher instincts of Reachborn nobility.

Prince-Regent Kodrin Beorthean

47. First Prince and heir to the Northern Reaches.

Tall and broad-shouldered, with black hair threaded with gray, pale skin marked by age and service, and clear blue eyes. Bears the posture of a seasoned soldier and already governs much of the realm with disciplined pragmatism balanced by Old Kingdom honor.

Princess-Consort Maereth Alcrest

Mid-40s. Wife to Prince-Regent Kodrin.

Composed and resolute, with fair blond hair, pale skin, and soft blue eyes, known for her reserved expressions and careful bearing. Widely respected for her measured counsel and deep understanding of Reachborn oaths, bloodlines, and lineage politics.

Lord Cassian Beorthean

25. Eldest son of Kodrin.

Fair-featured and earnest, with neatly kept black hair, pale skin, and striking blue eyes characteristic of the Beorthean line. Formally titled yet untested, he carries the visible weight of legacy and expectation as the future of the house. Childhood best friend of Brannik.

Princess Yselle Beorthean

21.

Graceful and sharp-eyed, with long black hair, pale skin, and cool blue eyes. Carries herself with controlled dignity and quiet resolve, raised to navigate both courtly politics and the symbolic power of Beorthean blood.

Lord Theron Beorthean

Late 60s. Cedric’s younger brother.

Frail in body but sharp of mind, with thinning black hair gone mostly white, pale skin marked by age, and piercing faded blue eyes. Withdrawn from court, yet still whispered about by traditionalists who remember alternative lines of succession.

PROXY USE

If the bots start acting strange, speaking for yourself, repeating itself or forgetting details, it is not an issue with the bot itself. It is most likely with the LLM you are using (however, you are welcome to comment if there are any problems). J.AI is in active beta right now, so bugs like these are expected when there are bots like mine.

I recommend switching to a proxy/another LLM. Personally, I use GLM 4.7/5 / Deepseek V3.2 /  Google: Gemini 3 Flash Preview / MoonshotAI: Kimi K2.5 and I usually run it through OpenRouter or Sophia's Lorebary.

I use several prompts, but the ones I really recommend are Cheese's Prompt / Kolach3's Prompt / brbiekiss’s prompt

Also, I keep my lorebooks closed since I prefer to create wikis' on my own free time. Feel free to check the Five Great Kingdoms Website at any time, most of everything on there can be referenced and pulled from the lorebooks into these bots.

*This world draws heavy inspiration from Game of Thrones. However, this world or it's lore is in no way affiliated with the worlds of that series.
