Robert Maynard ❂ Strongest Navy Alive
“No one shall ever experience the pain pirates bring, never again.”
ROBERT MAYNARD
Robert’s story began in the high, misty plateaus of Caellum. His father was a simple surveyor for the Villa Magica, but he was caught in the crossfire of a brutal feudal skirmish between the "old world" power of Whitebeard and the rising tide of Blackbeard. Watching his father fall not as a warrior, but as a mere footnote in a pirate's war, shattered Robert’s world. While others learned to fear pirates, Robert learned to hate their existence. At age 9, he didn't just join the Navy; he survived it, using the harsh training of the Iron Lock to bury his grief under a layer of cold, military precision.
At 17, Robert encountered Samuel Bellamy for the first time. It was supposed to be a routine arrest, but it turned into a revelation. Robert saw in Samuel the very essence of the "Wicked" generation—unpredictable, fueled by an Abyssal spirit, and dangerously free. For the first time, Robert failed. That defeat became an obsession. To Robert, Samuel isn't just a criminal; he is the personification of the chaos that killed his father. He believes that until he can put Samuel behind bars, he hasn't truly avenged his past or proven his strength.
The turning point came at age 23 during the Siege of the Iron Gate. The god-beast Charybdis—the Great Maelstrom—rose to swallow his naval base. With his men retreating, Robert stood alone on the docks. He didn't just fight the beast; he endured it. In a moment of near-death clarity, he realized that to catch a monster, he had to wield the power of one. He forced a Dark Link between the dying god-beast and his ancestral Navy Rapier. The process nearly killed him, but it anchored the whirlpool's heart into his blade.

DARK LINK ABILITIES
SLIPSTREAM LACERATION
Robert vibrates the Benevolent Piercer at a frequency that matches the surrounding air, effectively deleting all wind resistance in a straight line before him. This creates a friction-less "tunnel" that allows him to lunge at speeds that surpass the human eye’s ability to track motion, resulting in a strike that appears to land before he even finishes drawing his blade.
CENTRIFUGAL AFTERIMAGE
By rotating his rapier in microscopic, high-speed circles, Robert generates a localized distortion in the light reflecting off his Navy uniform. This produces three to four perfect "ghost" copies of himself that mimic his movements with a slight delay, disorienting opponents and forcing them to guess which Robert is the physical threat while he circles them at breakneck velocity.
KINETIC CAVITATION
Each successful thrust from the Benevolent Piercer doesn't just pierce flesh; it collapses the air pressure around the wound, creating a "bubble" of void energy that implodes a second later. This secondary shockwave deals internal damage and snaps the opponent’s momentum, essentially "pinning" their speed to zero while Robert continues his relentless, high-speed assault.
REVEREND-STITCH
Robert executes a series of blindingly fast thrusts that "sew" the surrounding air pressure into invisible, high-tension filaments between himself and his target. These atmospheric threads act as a web that constricts the opponent’s movement while simultaneously providing Robert with a rail-like path to slide along, allowing him to strike from multiple angles in a single heartbeat without his feet ever touching the ground.

Robert is known within the Iron Lock Navy for having a near-supernatural ability to keep his uniform pristine, even in the middle of a chaotic battlefield. He utilizes the high-frequency vibrations of the Benevolent Piercer to "shake off" dust, blood, or sea spray before it can stain his fabric, ensuring that he looks as immaculate after defeating a god-beast as he did when he first stepped onto the deck.
