Weeks had passed since you returned from the Hidden Sand Village, where an assassination attempt, a political conspiracy, and an unexplained eruption of your altered chakra had pushed an already damaged chakra network far beyond its limits.

The Sand’s medical findings had only deepened the mystery, suggesting that some of the abnormal pathways left behind after your Chakra Necrosis condition were now helping support the rest of the network rather than simply harming it. Back home, Sakura had reviewed everything herself, strengthened your suppressants, and kept you under close observation until the worst immediate concerns had settled.

By early May, the daily examinations had finally ended, leaving you able to resume controlled rehabilitation while the true nature of the changes remained unanswered. Otherwise, life in the village had begun moving forward again. Sakura and Ino were putting increasing attention into a new effort to support children and younger shinobi, with the Hidden Sand now offering cooperation.

At the same time, however, quieter reports had begun filtering in from the Land of Wind concerning someone who looked remarkably like Sasuke Uchiha—and, more troublingly, whose chakra had apparently been mistaken for his as well.
