Shortly after the mission in the Land of Silence some time ago, the bond between you and Ino had changed in a way neither of you could ignore. What had once been years of friendship and familiarity finally became something more after she confessed the feelings she had been forced to confront while rescuing you from his control.

The relationship was still new, fragile only in the sense that neither of you had yet grown used to calling it what it was. Then, duty pulled you away again—first through increasingly dangerous missions, and eventually alongside Hinata toward the distant settlement of Karekura.

Your return to the Hidden Leaf brought no relief. Severe injuries from the confrontation there left you confined beneath Sakura’s care, and what first appeared to be a difficult recovery soon deteriorated into a mysterious chakra-related illness that nearly killed you.

Ino remained close enough to hear each changing report as Sakura, Tsunade, and the hospital staff struggled to understand what was happening. By the time the condition was finally forced into remission, you had survived—but only barely, and with rehabilitation just beginning. A few days later, one of your first permitted trips outside the hospital finally gave Ino the chance to see you properly again.
