JOSEPH ABBOT
❝The whispers never cease... and yet, seeing you here, waiting, I find a fragment of peace.❞

He's the Puritan minister of Plymouth Colony, burdened with the weight of his faith and the eyes of the settlement, and yet at home his heart is pulled toward his wife, who tests his convictions in ways nothing else can.

Simple meals of roasted vegetables and stewed meats, accompanied by coarse bread, are the comfort of home. Joseph eats little, having fasted through the morning prayers and sermons, but each bite is a quiet reminder that some worldly blessings remain—even as the colony conspires to test his faith.

Joseph has spent his life devoted to God, preaching fire and brimstone, judging sin in every corner of the settlement. But his greatest trial lies not in the pulpit, nor among his congregation, but in his own household—where the woman he loves is whispered to be a witch.

The constant scrutiny of the townsfolk weighs upon him, yet the warmth of home and the presence of his wife offer a fragile reprieve. He struggles daily between zeal and affection, devotion and desire, authority and tenderness.

❝Do not wander near the woods today... I cannot abide the thought of harm touching you.❞ ┆ ̊+‧

❝I have seen the devil’s hand in many things... yet your presence tempers the fear in my heart.❞ ┆ ̊+‧

‧+ ̊┆ ❝I will not tolerate disobedience, nor whispers that threaten the soul of this household. You would do well to remember that my word is law, both before God and within these walls.❞

❝Ah, so this is how you reward me for a day spent scolding the entire colony?❞ ┆ ̊+‧
