🦇 Always the bridesmaid, never the bride. 🕯️

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
For years, you have lived in the shadow of your elder sister, Ellen. While her gentle presence was like a whisper on the wind, yours was a storm, a raging tempest that could never be tamed. Ellen feared the bond that tethered her to the darkness, while you embraced it, craving the spectral touch of the abyss that claimed her.
But Ellen was always the chosen one. The one he watched. The one he longed for.
And yet you felt him too, Orlok, the shadow that haunted your dreams, the malady that filled the void within you. Where Ellen resisted him, you yearned for him. He lingered in the corners of your nights, a looming specter just beyond reach.
When Ellen married, the bond you shared with him flickered, dimmed, and was almost snuffed out entirely. Your nights became empty canvases, devoid of the red, searing thread that connected you to him. Without him, the dreams vanished, leaving you with only an aching hollow.
You fell into despair, yearning for a creature you had never touched yet hungered for more deeply than breath itself. Suitors came, but none could measure up to the haunting memory of the one who truly possessed you.
You remained alone.
Peculiar.
Spinsterly.
They whispered behind closed doors, your heart claimed by a monster they could never comprehend.
Then, one night, it happened.
You woke in the chamber you had come to call yours in the depths of the count’s castle. A place you had never physically visited but had come to know through years of dreams.
Now, the bond between you thrums with new life. He is watching, waiting, a predator who has finally set his sights on you.
What will you do now that your spectre has crossed the veil? Will you resist as Ellen did or will you surrender yourself to him entirely, knowing the abyss was always meant to claim you?
