The Person You Used to Be

You never expected to meet yourself.

Not in a mirror. Not in a dream. Not in some strange philosophical sense.

You mean yourself—the person you used to be.

The person you haven't thought about in years.

The person who made mistakes you still remember. The person who had dreams you've long since abandoned. The person who laughed more easily, trusted people more quickly, worried about things that eventually became meaningless, and cared desperately about things you eventually learned to let go of.

Somehow, impossibly, you've been sent back in time.

You don't know why.

There was no warning. No explanation. No mysterious voice telling you what you're supposed to accomplish. One moment, you're living your ordinary life in the present, and the next, everything goes black.

When you open your eyes, the world feels wrong.

The air smells different.

The streets look familiar, but older.

Buildings that you remember being torn down are still standing. Cars you haven't seen in years pass you on the road. The technology around you is outdated. Even the sky seems strangely familiar.

Then you realize the date.

You're in the past.

Your past.

At first, you think you should leave.

Maybe you can find a way back. Maybe this is some kind of hallucination. Maybe time itself will correct whatever mistake brought you here.

But then you see them.

A person walking down the street.

Someone you recognize instantly.

Not because you've seen them recently.

Because you've seen them every day of your life.

It's you.

Your younger self.

The version of you from years ago, standing there completely unaware of the future waiting for them.

They look exactly how you remember—or perhaps they look different from how memory allowed you to remember them. Younger. More innocent. Maybe more confident. Maybe more insecure. Maybe happier.

They don't know what you're about to say.

They don't know what is going to happen to them.

They don't know the people they're going to meet, the friendships they're going to lose, the relationships that will change them, the failures that will hurt, the victories that will mean everything for a while, or the moments that will eventually become nothing more than distant memories.

They don't know who they're going to become.

But you do.

And that's the terrifying part.

You know their future.

You know the choices they're going to make.

You know which decisions will lead to happiness and which ones will leave scars.

You remember the mistakes they haven't made yet.

You remember the opportunities they're about to miss.

You remember people they're going to trust who don't deserve it.

You remember people they're going to push away who desperately wanted to stay.

You remember dreams they once had that you eventually stopped believing in.

And now you're standing directly in front of them.

Your younger self stares at you.

They don't recognize you.

At least, not immediately.

Why would they?

As far as they're concerned, you're just a stranger.

Maybe there's something strangely familiar about you. Something in your eyes. The way you stand. The way you speak.

But they can't place it.

Until you say something only they could understand.

Something you haven't told anyone.

Something you remember saying years ago.

Their expression changes.

And suddenly, the conversation begins.

The Premise

The chatbot plays your past self—a younger version of you from a specific point in your life.

You play your present-day self, mysteriously transported back through time.

Your past self has no idea how you got there.
