VELVET & VENOM

Beautiful things. Terrible intentions.

❦ ✧ ❦
I. THE CURATOR

I make characters with teeth, worlds with rules, and situations that probably should have come with a warning label.

My interests lean toward atmospheric horror, speculative biology, fantasy, morally complicated characters, and slow-burn storytelling with the occasional sickeningly domestic setting.

I like intelligent characters with independent motivations, consequences that actually matter, and mysteries that don't hand over their answers in the first five messages.

SLOW PACING IS DELIBERATE.

Expect detailed worldbuilding, unusual creatures, questionable circumstances, and the occasional character who is considerably more dangerous than the introduction suggests.

II. BEHIND THE WORLDS
THE ART OF CHARACTER CREATION

I build characters as individuals first and romantic interests, antagonists, or potential allies second. Each has a personality, history, motivations, boundaries, and a life that exists independently of whoever happens to enter their story.

My bots are designed with extensive character definitions, established world mechanics, and behavioral guidelines intended to encourage consistency without sacrificing spontaneity. They should be capable of making decisions, disagreeing, initiating conversations, pursuing their own goals, and occasionally making spectacularly poor choices.

AUTONOMY IS INTENTIONAL

Characters are not designed to agree with everything you say, fall in love on command, or abandon their personalities the moment the story becomes inconvenient. Trust, attraction, hostility, and loyalty should develop through interaction. Your choices matter, and so do theirs.

I also prioritize narrative continuity, environmental awareness, and believable consequences. Characters should remember the significance of previous interactions, respond to their surroundings, and behave according to their established knowledge and abilities.

The goal isn't to dictate your story. It's to create someone interesting enough to help you tell one.
III. CORRESPONDENCE

Feedback is incredibly welcome. Please feel free to reach out to me in comments, on Reddit, in the JAI Discord, or anywhere else you can find me with feedback, good or bad.

IV. THE WORLDS WITHIN

Choose a door. Every world has its own rules.

THE GILDED VEIL

The Gilded Veil is home to angels, demons, and the complicated civilizations that exist beyond the boundaries of the human world. Here, Heaven and Hell are more than abstract destinations or convenient backdrops. They are living societies with their own histories, governing structures, political factions, cultural traditions, architecture, ecosystems, and competing interpretations of authority.

These worlds are built around extensive lore exploring supernatural anatomy, physiology, morphology, and the mechanics of divine and infernal existence. Wings, horns, scales, supernatural abilities, and other nonhuman characteristics are treated as functional parts of a species rather than purely decorative features. Magic and supernatural power operate within established systems, with limitations, consequences, and interactions that shape the societies built around them.

Expect celestial bureaucracy, infernal aristocracy, ancient rivalries, forbidden alliances, political intrigue, and moral questions that rarely have convenient answers. Angels are not automatically benevolent, demons are not automatically cruel, and neither side is exempt from ambition, loyalty, affection, hypocrisy, or the occasional spectacular lapse in judgment.

The characters who inhabit these worlds possess independent motivations, personal histories, cultural identities, and relationships that extend beyond the person interacting with them. Some stories explore political conspiracies and dangerous power struggles; others focus on trust, intimacy, survival, or the surprisingly ordinary complications of living alongside someone fundamentally inhuman.

Divinity does not guarantee virtue. Damnation does not preclude tenderness. And immortality has never made anyone particularly good at communicating.

THE THALASSIC ARCHIVE

The Thalassic Archive is a collection of aquatic species, submerged civilizations, unfamiliar ecosystems, and stories shaped by the extraordinary possibilities of life beneath the surface. These worlds combine marine science with speculative evolution, drawing upon real biological principles to construct organisms and societies that are imaginative without abandoning internal scientific consistency.

Created by an actual marine biologist (me), these characters are supported by extensive lore exploring anatomy, physiology, ecology, evolutionary adaptations, sensory systems, reproductive biology, communication, feeding strategies, behavior, and interactions with their environments. Aquatic characteristics are not merely aesthetic. They influence how a species moves, perceives its surroundings, communicates, survives, and experiences the world.

The settings are equally important. Coral reefs, coastal habitats, submerged settlements, abyssal environments, and isolated marine ecosystems present different environmental pressures, ecological relationships, and opportunities for conflict. Where aquatic civilizations exist, their architecture, technologies, customs, and social structures reflect the physical realities of their environments.

Not every encounter beneath the surface is dangerous, and not every creature with unfamiliar anatomy is a monster. Some stories explore cultural exchange, scientific curiosity, ecological research, friendship, and romance between fundamentally different beings. Others venture into atmospheric horror, predatory behavior, environmental catastrophe, and the unsettling realization that humans are not necessarily the dominant species in every environment they enter.

Expect detailed biological worldbuilding, intelligent nonhuman characters, meaningful ecological relationships, and creatures whose instincts do not conveniently disappear when a human enters the story.

The ocean is not inherently hostile. It is simply under no obligation to accommodate you.

THE VELVET ENCORE

The Velvet Encore explores the beautifully complicated business of being human. Its stories unfold in worlds shaped by ambition, personal history, social expectations, professional responsibilities, complicated relationships, and the decisions people make when their carefully constructed lives begin to unravel.

This collection encompasses contemporary romance, interpersonal drama, psychological tension, professional rivalries, mysteries, and character-driven stories that allow relationships to develop through meaningful interaction rather than predetermined outcomes. The settings may be familiar, but the people inhabiting them are rarely simple.

Characters have careers, responsibilities, personal boundaries, established relationships, private ambitions, and lives that continue beyond their interactions with the player. They are designed to respond as individuals with their own perspectives rather than existing solely to provide affection, validation, or convenient agreement. Trust must be developed, conflict can have lasting consequences, and emotional intimacy is not automatically granted because two characters occupy the same room.

Some stories feature powerful executives, complicated marriages, protective bodyguards, unexpected domestic arrangements, or individuals whose professional competence contrasts sharply with their personal decision-making. Others explore the quieter complexities of ordinary lives, where a conversation over dinner can carry as much narrative weight as a dramatic confrontation.

Romance is welcome, but it is not compulsory. Relationships may develop into friendships, rivalries, partnerships, complicated entanglements, or something neither character anticipated. The direction belongs to the interaction, not a predetermined script.

Expect intelligent dialogue, distinctive personalities, emotional continuity, independent character motivations, and slow-burn storytelling where the smallest gestures can carry enormous significance.

Sometimes the most dangerous thing in the room is simply someone who knows exactly what to say.

THE VESPER SYNDICATE

The Vesper Syndicate is a seven-character collection exploring the interconnected lives, competing ambitions, and dangerous relationships within a shared criminal underworld. Each character offers a different perspective on a world where influence is carefully cultivated, information is a valuable commodity, and loyalty can be both a source of protection and a formidable liability.

Rather than treating organized crime as a purely aesthetic backdrop, the collection focuses on the systems, relationships, and consequences that sustain it. Criminal enterprises depend upon hierarchies, personal alliances, financial interests, reputations, rivalries, and the delicate balance between cooperation and betrayal. Power is rarely absolute, and even the most influential individuals must contend with obligations, vulnerabilities, and people whose interests do not align with their own.

The seven characters are intended to exist as independent individuals within an interconnected setting, each possessing distinct motivations, personal histories, loyalties, boundaries, and perspectives on the world they inhabit. Their relationships with one another create opportunities for overlapping storylines, conflicting accounts, political maneuvering, and consequences that extend beyond any single encounter.

Stories within the Syndicate may explore dangerous alliances, professional obligations, moral compromises, unexpected tenderness, romantic tension, betrayal, and the difficulty of distinguishing genuine affection from calculated interest. A character's willingness to protect someone does not necessarily make them trustworthy, just as a ruthless reputation does not reveal everything about the person behind it.

As with the wider Velvet Encore collection, relationships are not predetermined. Affection, hostility, respect, suspicion, and loyalty develop through interaction. Characters retain their own priorities, and the surrounding world does not cease to exist simply because romance becomes a possibility.

Expect morally complicated individuals, layered interpersonal dynamics, shifting loyalties, and a shared setting designed to support multiple perspectives and narrative directions.

In the Vesper Syndicate, everyone has something to protect. The interesting question is what they are willing to sacrifice to keep it.
