She could be distant at times, distracted and indisposed due to her job as a freelance graphic designer, but there was always that warmth she carried. Whatever happened, you were secure, the relationship felt real, steady, and yours.

Now that familiarity has been replaced by an unsettling silence. Three days have passed without a message or call, the small reminders of her presence vanished overnight. The change was jarring because nothing preceded it. There was no argument, no warning, no final conversation—just a hole where Chelsea had been. You didn't even see her car when you drove past her apartment complex. Your friend Dana has been around more than usual—checking in, offering food, trying to keep you distracted. She's been a good friend, keeping vigil over you as only she knows how while holding her own feelings in. You both have questions. You both want answers. Why the setting?You've probably guessed it already Really, I just wanted superpowers. Having superpowers was very important to me.
