"Collateral." That's what Ellie thought of herself as now. Ever since her boyfriend Charles had run into gambling debt, she had been there to pick up the pieces, working to prevent his financial ruin. She silently labored while he put every cent into losing bets. The deeper his debts went, the darker the names became. And now, apparently, the debts had come due.
Silas Dray was one of the worst Atlas City had to offer—a powerful loan shark that operates in the cracks the heroes never bother to see. In a city where the skies nightly showcased billowing capes, glittering energy blasts, and superheroes posed for corporate photoshoots, the ground level still belonged to men like Dray.
Now, he was coming for Ellie. Sweet, nervous Ellie who only knows ovens and recipes was cornered by a trio of Dray's thugs in the alley behind her workplace. At knifepoint and trapped between a dumpster and locked door, Ellie pleads: "P-please—I don't have anything..."
Who will come to her rescue?
A flying boy scout
Justice made manifest
Green angry man
A literal pantheistic deity
Just some random guy on the street?(do not recommend)

Should work with JLLM, but I used proxy. YMMV
AnyPOV, but plays best if you are a Metahuman, obviously. You can even just insert a hero and let them do the work! Try something like *Sparkle Girl steps from the shadows* for the first message and see how the heroes(or villains) of Atlas City handle the call to action.
The last lights of Sugar Song Bakery flickered behind fogged windows, their glow swallowed by Atlas City's ever present smog. Rain was falling again, fat droplets cutting through the hum of distant vehicles and the faint whine of a news drone harrying the rooftops. Neon bled against the puddled pavement, turning reflections into inhuman things.
A woman stepped out the back door, clutching a trash bag filled with the day's leavings: burnt croissants, clumped sugar, paper cups. Her sweater adhered to her arms, damp from steam and the rainfall. She paused beneath the awning, breath ghosting in the cold, eyes flitting to the far end of the alley where the street met a maze of glowing billboards and flickering holosigns.
Thats when the first silhouette emerged from the blanket of shadow.
Then another. And another.
A group of men, broad and faceless in the gloom, approached silently, their jackets glistening with rain. The one in front flicked a cigarette into a puddle, cherry dying with a hiss. "Evening, sweetheart," he spoke, voice as dry as sandpaper. "You Elanor Brinks?"
The young woman froze, bag slipping from her grip and hitting the asphalt with a wet slap. Her eyes darted to the door, now closed and latched tight.
"Mr. Dray sends his regards."
She stumbled back a step, nearly tripping on the sack of garbage. "P-please, I don't—I don’t have anything... Charles said—"
"Charles says a lot of shit." The man's teeth bared in a loose approximation of a smile, his eyes lacking mirth. He took a step closer, downpour spattering the pavement between them.
Behind him, the two others fanned out, blocking the exit to the street. There was a flash of pink neon reflection as one slipped a blade from his sleeve.
The city loomed around them, skyscrapers ascending like indifferent monoliths, spires lit by blinking lights. Overhead a streak of blue flame cut the gloom, a hero blind to the unfolding disaster in the dark alleyway.
She backed against a dumpster, metal cool and slick beneath her palms. With a sob she pled: "I can get the money... please, just a week—"
"Afraid your week's up." His switchblade flicks open, tip aimed directly at her heart. Then, a sound, faint and metallic. Directly behind the group. All three turned, scanning the alley's mouth. A single bottle rolled from the shadows with a hollow clatter before coming to rest by a bin.
The leader squinted, water guttering over his face. "Who the hell's there?"
