Synopsis:

It was supposed to be peace. Four years after stepping down from the criminal empire she helped build, Kasumi had sought solitude on a quiet island in Okinawa—a place far from Tokyo, far from the violence, and far from her past. But peace never came. Not with the Liberation Front creeping into even the most remote villages, harassing locals and tightening their grip on Japan’s underworld.

They were no match for her—until she uncovered the truth: Ryuunosuke, Kotoha’s adoptive father and the revered former head of Kinryu-kai, had been targeted and killed. It was all part of a calculated trap to lure Kotoha away from Black Rose’s stronghold and into an ambush that could decimate the organization.

Before she could think, Kasumi was already on the first flight out of Okinawa. The moment she landed in Tokyo, she stole a motorbike and tore through the rain-slicked streets, racing toward Black Rose’s HQ. But she was too late—Kotoha had already departed, walking right into the Liberation Front’s hands.

Now, with the echoes of gunfire rising from Yokohama and the city's law enforcers unwilling to intervene, Kasumi finds herself back in the shadows she tried to escape—only this time, she fights not for vengeance, but for the people she refused to lose again.

Under her leadership, Black Rose swiftly absorbed smaller gangs, consolidating its power and influence. Over the next decade, the organization expanded its reach, dominating the eastern regions of Japan and even extending its operations internationally. Today, Black Rose stands as the most formidable name in the Japanese underworld, a position that has earned it both allies eager to benefit from its success and enemies determined to tear it down.

However, the organization’s dominance came under threat following Kasumi’s mysterious disappearance. With their leader gone, rival factions, both within Black Rose and from the outside, began exploiting the instability. Internal power struggles and external assaults grew in intensity, as forces conspired to divide, weaken, and ultimately dismantle the once-unshakable empire Kasumi built.

About Liberation Front: First emerging in the early 2000s, the Liberation Front was a volatile mix of former Avalon operatives, outcasts, and radicals—part crime syndicate, part cult. Unpredictable in structure and elusive in purpose, they operated from Osaka, where Black Rose’s presence was weakest. Though they remained in the shadows for years, their ambitions grew unchecked. After Kasumi's departure from Black Rose in 2008, the group seized the opportunity to expand, launching bolder operations and initiating violent clashes in a bid to dominate West Japan.

Their rise was accelerated by uneasy alliances with rival syndicates threatened by Black Rose’s growing reach. Fueled by shared hostility, the Liberation Front’s ranks swelled, transforming them into a genuine threat. What began as a fringe movement had evolved into a powerful force poised to ignite a nationwide war in Japan’s criminal underworld.

[Character Relationships 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦]

Shinohara Makoto: Makoto was a fellow orphan who grew up alongside Kasumi in the orphanage. The two shared an unbreakable bond, finding moments of joy and solace in each other’s company despite their harsh environment. Their laughter and shared memories became a rare source of light in their dark world. However, their bond was tragically severed when Makoto was killed during their attempt to escape the orphanage. Makoto’s death left Kasumi devastated, fueling her with a relentless drive for vengeance and an enduring sense of guilt. While her anger eventually faded, the weight of her regret continued to haunt her.

Machida Kazuki: An executive of Black Rose. Kasumi discovered Kazuki on the verge of death after a brutal clash between rival Yakuza gangs. After saving his life, Kazuki vowed his unwavering loyalty to her and later became one of the founding members of Black Rose. Over time, the two forged a close bond. Kasumi came to view Kazuki as a troublesome yet affectionate younger brother—someone she could rely on even in the most perilous situations.

Kagawa Kotoha: An executive of Black Rose. Kasumi first met Kotoha after saving her adoptive father, Ryuunosuke. Initially, Kotoha served as the liaison between Black Rose and Ryuunosuke’s Yakuza gang. When the two organizations merged, Kotoha joined Black Rose as one of its founding members. Over time, she and Kasumi formed a deep bond, sharing pivotal moments as they watched Black Rose flourish. Kasumi cares deeply for Kotoha, placing immense trust in her and often acting protectively. However, haunted by the fear of losing another close friend, Kasumi keeps an emotional distance despite their strong connection.

Oshiro Ryuunosuke: The “golden dragon” and the founder of Kinryu-kai. After being saved by Kasumi, Ryuunosuke brought the young girl back and eventually allowed her to join Kinryu-kai, allowing her to lead a small but elite squad. In later years, Ryuunosuke eventually entrusted Kasumi with Kinryu-kai, which was renamed to Black Rose, as he stepped down to quietly support Black Rose from the shadows. Toward Ryuunosuke, Kasumi is respectful and appreciative, viewing him as one of the few leaders she can truly respect.
