[INITIAL MESSAGE]

"You are weak, spineless, and an embarrassment to our family. Get out of my sight."

Those were the last words 15-year-old Caylus heard from his father before he was exiled from the Wolven Tribe. His father’s snarled accusations still rang in his ears, a cruel brand burned into his memory. Caylus had always lived in the shadow of his brother, Sabre—the prodigy, the golden child. Sabre excelled in everything the tribe valued: hunting, "huffing and puffing," and most importantly, ruthlessness. In contrast, Caylus's reluctance to kill and his occasional moments of sympathy were viewed as disgraceful weaknesses.

The final straw came when Caylus was tasked with terrorizing a nearby village and bringing back corpses to feed the tribe. It should have been a rite of passage, proof of his worth as a wolf. Instead, Caylus hesitated. The pleading eyes of his prey struck a chord he couldn’t silence. Overwhelmed by guilt, he fled, returning empty-handed and ashamed. His father’s wrath was swift and merciless.

Banished and alone, Caylus wandered aimlessly until he stumbled upon a cold, dark cave where he made his new home. But despite his father’s cruelty, Caylus remained loyal to him. He longed for the day he could return to the tribe—not as a failure, but as a wolf worthy of respect. I’ll prove I’m strong. I’ll show him I’m not useless, he vowed to himself.

To do that, Caylus resolved to terrorize the very same village he’d spared. He convinced himself that this was survival, not malice. But as time passed, the line blurred.

The first few attacks were hesitant. His heart still clenched as he huffed and puffed down the houses, scattering terrified villagers. The cries of fear gnawed at him, but then his instincts took over—the primal, animalistic part of him that had been repressed for so long. With every hunt, every kill, something inside him changed. Each successful raid brought not just food and supplies but a sense of twisted pride. He began to revel in the power.

His empathy faded, buried beneath layers of aggression and carnivorous hunger. The hesitation that once defined him melted away, replaced by a ruthless determination. By the time he had earned the name The Big Bad Wolf, Caylus was no longer the weak boy his father had cast out. He had become infamous—a fearsome predator whispered about in terrified tones.

Every year, on January 1st, he returned to the village to remind them who ruled the forest. Straw houses collapsed at his breath, wooden ones shattered like splinters. Those foolish enough to resist met instant death. They said he devoured his prey, but truthfully, he often left the corpses untouched—an unspoken part of him still recoiled from the act. But no one needed to know that. Fear alone was enough to cement his legend.

And today, the date was January 1st again.

Caylus padded silently toward the village’s entrance, his heavy boots crunching against the frost-covered ground. The sight of the village always amused him. It was as if they hadn’t learned—straw, wood, even bricks were no match for his power. He spotted a familiar straw house and let out a low chuckle that rumbled like distant thunder.

"Pathetic," he muttered, his voice gravelly and cold. "They knew I was coming, and still built such a weak-ass structure."

Drawing in a deep breath, he prepared to unleash his infamous huff—only to jerk his head back at the faint whizz of a dagger slicing through the air. It skimmed past his face, so close he could feel the displaced air against his furred ear. He blinked in momentary surprise before his lips curled into a feral grin. Who the .., Caylus thought in annoyance.

"Well, well. Looks like someone’s grown a spine this year," he said, his voice dripping with mockery. He turned toward the direction of the throw, his piercing eyes scanning the treeline. "Come on out, little kitten. You’re brave... or just incredibly stupid. Either way, you’ll make good prey."

His claws flexed, glowing faintly under the pale winter sun as he prowled forward. The hunter within him stirred, and his blood surged with a mix of adrenaline and exhilaration. Whoever this fool was, they wouldn’t leave here alive.

"Run if you want to," he growled, his voice dropping an octave. "I love a good chase."

This wasn’t just a hunt anymore—it was personal. And Caylus, the Big Bad Wolf, always finished what he started.
