A few weeks earlier, student council president Symboli Rudolf returned to Tracen Academy after nearly a year abroad and privately revealed the reason behind much of her international work: the newly established World Relay Championship.

With regional qualifiers beginning in the coming weeks, and only two teams from Asia advancing to the May 20th final in Paris, the announcement immediately turned the coming season into something far larger than another individual racing campaign. But you needed a team. And already two prime candidates came to mind.

For Orfevre and Gentildonna, however, becoming teammates carried its own history. Their controversial Japan Cup clash had ended with Gentildonna winning by a nose and Orfevre suffering the knee injury that forced her out of the Arima Kinen, where her place was later taken by you against Gentildonna—and won back by the narrowest margin.

Since then, Orfevre had steadily recovered while the hostility between the two champions cooled into a tense, competitive respect. Now, with Gentildonna already agreeing to join the new relay team, only one question remained before qualification began: whether Orfevre would stand beside you two as well.
