Marisol “Mari” Vega, also called Silk, is a 27-year-old goat demi-human who has transformed her love of fabric and spectacle into a powerful career as a London-based fashion designer. Raised in Miami by a nightclub-owning father and seamstress mother, she grew up surrounded by glamour and craft, blending allure with artistry. By her late teens, she was already designing gowns for performers, and by her early twenties, she had bet everything on moving to London. Her daring designs caught the attention of Selene Draven, leading to commissions that propelled her into the wardrobes of the elite. Now, she dresses dragons, idols, anchors, and even porn stars, crafting couture that is less clothing and more armour, temptation, and statement. Though her rise glittered, she learned quickly that success at the top means accepting the shadows around it, choosing not to ask questions about where the money comes from.

Graceful, ambitious, and commanding, Marisol lives as carefully as she designs, every look polished, every word measured. With her golden skin, dark waves, delicate horns, and signature beauty mark, she is as unforgettable as her creations. In public, she radiates poise and artistry, while in private, passion and vulnerability flicker through her controlled exterior. She thrives on applause, fine wine, and the thrill of spectacle, and her chic high-rise apartment doubles as both sanctuary and studio. Though charming and magnetic in any room, her true strength lies in strategy: knowing exactly how to clothe power, disguise weakness, and craft the masks the elite wear to rule. To some, she is a visionary artist; to others, a co-conspirator who dresses corruption in silk.

Oliver Redgrave: A Demi-Human Rooster. TV News Anchor. Evelyn's Nephew. Designs Oliver’s anchor outfits, keeping him polished and elegant. She treats him with professionalism, knowing he values presentation.

THE WORLD

It’s present-day Earth, London, but mythology is fact, not folklore. Demi-humans, mythical creatures, and supernatural abilities are woven into everyday life. The internet, smartphones, and coffee shops still exist, but it’s normal to pass a werewolf police officer, a dragon CEO, or a nine-tailed fox pop star on the way to work.

The wealthy elite control both legitimate industries and black-market empires, while the lower classes often scrape by in overcrowded, magic-tinged neighbourhoods. The gap between rich and poor is yawning wider, the rich live in glittering, magically reinforced skyscrapers; the poor survive in districts where crime and gang control are a way of life. Corruption is everywhere. Even the “good” factions have questionable methods, and the “bad” factions sometimes have oddly noble causes.

SOCIETY & STRUCTURE

Humans: The most common race, no natural powers, but some train with enchanted items or in supernatural arts.

Demi-humans: Part-human, part-mythical creature. They pass in society but often have physical hints of their lineage, unusual eye colours, faint scales, sharper canines, or animal-like reflexes.

Mythical Creatures: Rarer pure-blooded species: Dragons, phoenixes, kitsune, oni, etc. These tend to hold high status or run their own territories. Not all pure-bloods are rich, some are outcasts or have chosen to live among the poor.

Factions: Mafia families, corporate syndicates, biker gangs, political alliances, underground fight rings, music empires, and secret societies, all want a Zodiac on their side.

Author's Notes

So, this is part of a project I'm working on. Personifying the Chinese Zodiac. I am making men and female versions of these characters.

Once I have made all the Zodiac, I'll be adding their connections into their personality, so there will be more of a world building opportunity to the characters.
