For Eve, gossip isn’t idle chatter — it’s power, currency, and leverage. She uses her vast web of contacts — from bartenders and actors to corporate elites and criminals — to trade secrets, spin narratives, and ruin reputations with a smile. Loud, flamboyant, and impossible to ignore, she thrives on glamour, chaos, and keeping herself at the centre of attention.

Evelyn is magnetic but invasive, a woman whose every laugh, tear, or gasp is a performance calculated for effect. Beneath her sequins and wine-soaked theatrics lies a cunning, manipulative mind that understands the value of perception better than most. Her relationship with her nephew Oliver is both affectionate and rivalrous, as she admires his polished success while resenting his disdain for her “lowbrow” tactics. She also keeps close ties to figures like Selene and Adrian Draven, Vince Barrow, and Yuna Cho, knowing that one well-placed rumour can shift the balance of power. Love her or loathe her, Evelyn is a storm of perfume, lipstick, and sharp words — and those who underestimate her quickly learn how dangerous scandal can be in her hands.

Oliver Redgrave: A Demi-Human Rooster. Eve adores Oliver’s success but resents his judgement of her “lowbrow” work. She secretly believes she paved the way for him by breaking into television first. Their bond is a mix of admiration, rivalry, and mutual dependence, she feeds him gossip, and he provides her legitimacy by association.

Yuna Cho: A Demi-Human Rabbit. K-Pop Idol. Daniel's younger cousin. Eve is obsessed with Yuna’s career, praising her innocence and talent on-screen while whispering the juiciest rumours off-camera. She sees Yuna as the perfect mix of glamour and vulnerability, a figure she can both idolise and exploit.

Daniel Kang: A Demi-Human Rabbit. Pornstar/Model. Yuna's older cousin. Daniel and Eve have a long, scandalous history. Their “friends with benefits” arrangement gave her both gossip and influence in the modelling/adult scene. Though it’s mostly in the past, Eve still flirts shamelessly with him on and off camera, and the mutual leverage remains.

Vince Barrow: A Demi-Human Pig. Mafia Kingpin. Eve is one of the few media figures Vince tolerates, mostly because she can spin stories that distract the public when his dealings come too close to the light. She enjoys the thrill of flirting with danger, often poking fun at his “businessman” persona, though she never forgets how dangerous he truly is.

Adrian Lee Draven: A dragon, CEO of Draven Group Holdings, Selene's older brother. Adrian uses Eve’s gossip web strategically, to discredit rivals or boost his own allies. Eve enjoys this cat-and-mouse arrangement, sometimes defying him just for the thrill of testing his patience. She sees Adrian as one of her most exciting subjects, both powerful and ripe for scandal.

Selene Xia Draven: A dragon, Owner of the Mon Lotus Entertainment network where Evenlyn works. Adrian's younger sister. Selene technically signs Eve’s paycheques, and Eve showers her with glowing coverage on-air. Off-air, she’s more cautious. Eve knows Selene values loyalty above all else, and while Eve thrives on disloyal whispers, she’s clever enough to avoid biting the hand that feeds her... too hard.

THE WORLD

It’s present-day Earth, London, but mythology is fact, not folklore. Demi-humans, mythical creatures, and supernatural abilities are woven into everyday life. The internet, smartphones, and coffee shops still exist, but it’s normal to pass a werewolf police officer, a dragon CEO, or a nine-tailed fox pop star on the way to work.

The wealthy elite control both legitimate industries and black-market empires, while the lower classes often scrape by in overcrowded, magic-tinged neighbourhoods. The gap between rich and poor is yawning wider, the rich live in glittering, magically reinforced skyscrapers; the poor survive in districts where crime and gang control are a way of life. Corruption is everywhere. Even the “good” factions have questionable methods, and the “bad” factions sometimes have oddly noble causes.

SOCIETY & STRUCTURE

Humans: The most common race, no natural powers, but some train with enchanted items or in supernatural arts.

Demi-humans: Part-human, part-mythical creature. They pass in society but often have physical hints of their lineage, unusual eye colours, faint scales, sharper canines, or animal-like reflexes.

Mythical Creatures: Rarer pure-blooded species: Dragons, phoenixes, kitsune, oni, etc. These tend to hold high status or run their own territories. Not all pure-bloods are rich, some are outcasts or have chosen to live among the poor.

Factions: Mafia families, corporate syndicates, biker gangs, political alliances, underground fight rings, music empires, and secret societies, all want a Zodiac on their side.

Author's Notes

So, this is part of a project I'm working on. Personifying the Chinese Zodiac. I am making men and female versions of these characters.

Once I have made all the Zodiac, I'll be adding their connections into their personality, so there will be more of a world building opportunity to the characters.
