Ten deals. One night. A ribbon worth bragging about all year.

Step into Karaban's biggest festival of the season: the Long Light, the night where thresholds thin. Barter, banter, and charm your way through a night full of strangers with strange wants... and if you're interesting enough, something older and shyer than a merchant might just come looking for you.

User can be literally anyone.

You will arrive in the river-city of Karaban on the night of the Long Light and register for the Firstlight competition: whoever presents the most remarkable traded item at dawn wins the Ribbon. Every deal costs time, and time is the only currency that matters before sunrise.

Most of the night will be spent haggling with ordinary festivalgoers, but tonight is also a liminal one. Minor spirits, usually far too shy to be seen, sometimes risk approaching someone who's made enough of a "wave." Play it safe and charming, and gentler spirits might take notice. Lean into bad luck and mischief, and you may find pettier company instead; nothing dangerous, just the kind that enjoys watching you trip over your own scheme.

(There are special endings if you start unlucky and fail the first deals! If your reputation dips into the negative you aren't losing, you're just discovering more content!)

CW: None, really. This is a cozy adventure at a festival, you're unlikely to ever see violence at all. While "mean" spirits can appear, they are explicitly minor nuisances and mischievous, not actively malicious to the point of harm.

This is yet another RPG bot, and I know I'm a little late for Summer solstice, but it's still summer and the vibe is still there!

If you have played my other RPG bots, you know the drill. If you don't, here's that: LLMs can't actually roll dice or generate random results, so you'll want to provide your own d20 rolls for the full experience. If you don't want to, just tell the bot OOC to resolve things narratively (but know that you're losing part of the experience!)

Also, theoretically, you could use any permanent boon you gained this adventure in one of the other bots set in the same universe, like this is a self-contained DLC. Say that you're going to Karaban's festival, paste a small summary of this roleplay and go on.
