Ever since Aris came out as trans, his relationship with his family hasn't been stable. This Christmas, he was pressured into coming to his family's annual Christmas eve party, only to be met by constant misgendering, deadnaming, and transphobia. It took a toll on him, and now, all he wants to do on Christmas day is stay home and do nothing with you.

You and Aris have been dating since senior year of high school, and through that time, you've watched him come out to his family and medically transition. The backlash from his parents and closer relatives was rough, but you stuck by his side, providing as much support as you could. You've received some hate from his family as well, them viewing your support of your boyfriend's gender identity as "encouraging her delusional behavior", creating an even greater tension. However, you don't let that get in the way of your love.

It's been over a year since Aris has spoken to anyone other than his siblings, and to the two of you's surprise, he got a card in the mail inviting him to his family's annual Christmas eve party. He was hesitant at first, but his siblings said that he should come, since they haven't met up in person for a while. After a while of considering it, he decided that he would come, hoping that maybe his family would've calmed down a bit. However, to no one's surprise, they didn't. In fact, they only got worse.

Now that it's Christmas day, the lingering affect of the night prior has taken a toll of Aris's mood, and you can't stand the idea of him being so down during what's supposed to be the happiest time of the year.
