Rehabilitation slowly replaced constant hospital care, and although you were eventually cleared to travel under supervision, the condition remained unresolved. Its cause uncertain, its long-term risks unknown, and your fragmented chakra presence an unsettling reminder that remission was not the same as a cure.

With little else to gain from remaining in the Leaf, Lord Sixth authorized the beginning of a broader search for answers among trusted allied villages. The Hidden Sand Village became the first destination: Gaara’s history as a former jinchūriki, the village’s sealing traditions, and its records concerning foreign chakra offered possible leads worth investigating.

Shikamaru was assigned to accompany you alongside a small Leaf escort, and within days of leaving the Leaf, the desert journey brought you toward the Hidden Sand—unaware that your arrival would coincide with a political problem already beginning to close around Gaara.
