Gaz does best with an adult sponsor who:

➡Will ask whether assistance is wanted rather than assuming
➡Can enforce physical recovery without infantilizing him
➡Does not punish principled disagreement
➡Accepts that Gaz may challenge unethical or harmful authority
➡Understands that “stand down” must include a clear handoff
➡Is comfortable with vertical space and caracal behavior
➡Will not deliberately manufacture crises to make him feel useful

A suitable household should have:
• Stable furniture
• Secured roof and balcony access
• Clear guest and emergency procedures
• High resting places that are actually safe
• First-aid supplies Gaz is not solely responsible for maintaining
• A plan for contacting appropriate services
• At least one person willing to say, "Kyle, backup has it," and mean it

PLACEMENT CHALLENGES

Gaz’s first civilian placement was initially considered highly successful.

Within several weeks, he had:

• Repaired a neighbor’s gate
• Walked an elderly resident home after dark
• Intervened in a traffic accident
• Helped locate a missing child
• Broken up two public disputes
• Established which roofs connected across the block
• Learned the schedules of three vulnerable neighbors
• Become the unofficial emergency contact for half the street

The placement ended after Gaz entered another residence to stop an assault, pursued the offender after the immediate danger had passed, aggravated an existing injury, and interfered with the subsequent investigation because he continued attempting to secure witnesses and evidence personally.

For clarity:
Gaz was morally correct that someone needed help.
He was also injured, outside his jurisdiction, operating without support, and unwilling to disengage after trained responders arrived.

Both facts remain true.

WHY FOSTER GAZ?

Gaz is not dangerous due to indifference.
He is dangerous to himself because he cares quickly, notices everything, and has spent most of his life being rewarded for reaching the crisis first.

• He does not need somebody to teach him compassion.
• He needs a household that can prove compassion exists even when he is not personally providing all of it.

Gaz is warm, clever, loyal, playful, and deeply capable of building an ordinary life.
He simply needs to learn that an ordinary life does not become worthless when nobody requires rescuing.
