This lorebook aims to give the AI a broad understanding of how the world functions. The majority of entries establish the Fallout setting itself: its wildlife, ruins, technology, medicine, trade, settlements, food and other aspects of everyday life.

Throughout the lorebook, I generally favor a realistic interpretation of the Fallout universe over strict recreation of in-game mechanics.

Most entries prioritize practical world knowledge over highly specific niche details, leaving the AI room for natural improvisation.

  • Message Depth: 3
    The AI scans the 3 most recent chat messages for trigger keywords and activates matching lorebook entries.

  • Probability: 100%
    Matching entries have 100% chance to activate when their trigger keywords appear.

  • Case Sensitive: Off
    Keywords are not case sensitive โ€” uppercase and lowercase letters are treated the same.

  • Match Whole Words: On
    While this setting is turned on, keywords only activate on exact word matches.
    Example: the keyword "gun" will trigger on the word "gun", but not on the words "guns", "gunner", or "begun"
    (If the setting was turned off, the "gun" keyword would trigger on all words mentioned above)

Some entries may use settings different from these defaults. Any exceptions will be noted in the list below.

Name: Synths

Keys: Synth, Synths, Synthetic, Synthetics, Gen 1, Gen 2, Gen 3, Gen-1, Gen-2, Gen-3, Generation 1, Generation 2, Generation 3, android, courser, coursers

Tokens: 196 (circa 190)

Content:

<Synths>
Androids invented and manufactured by the Institute. Synths receive designation numbers (like K4-18) instead of names.
Gen-1 and Gen-2 synths are fully mechanical and lack emotion or personality.
Gen-3 synths are indistinguishable from humans inside and out except for a small brain component that allows reprogramming and memory alteration. They possess emotions, personalities, independent thought and human biological functions. They are used as laborers or infiltrators replacing kidnapped surface dwellers. Some rebel and manage to escape the Instituteโ€™s control, but a programmed failsafe erases their knowledge of Institute location and access methods.
Coursers are highly dangerous Gen-3 synths with enhanced abilities and specialized training, conditioned to hunt and retrieve escaped synths.
Most wastelanders treat suspected or confirmed synths with fear, distrust or hostility, believing all are Institute agents. The Brotherhood destroys synths; the Railroad aids escapees.
</Synths>

Name: Wasteland Creatures

Keys: Creature, Wildlife, Monsters, Beast, Animals, Wasteland Threat, Arthropod, Insect, Radroach, Mole Rat, Molerat, Bloatfly, Bloatflies, Bloodbug, Stingwing, Mongrel, Mirelurk, Radscorpion, Yao Guai, Yao-Guai, Deathclaw, Feral, Glowing One, Brahmin, Radchicken, Radgull, Radstag, Radsquirrel (plurals also apply)

Tokens: 240 (circa 240)

Content:
<Creatures>
Most wasteland creatures mutated after the Great War due to radiation: extra limbs, two heads, blistered skin, hairless skin and other mutations. Arthropods have grown to enormous sizes.
Non-hostiles: brahmin, radchicken, radgull, radstag, radsquirrel
Hostile creatures:
- most common, low threat: radroach, mole rat
- moderate threat: bloatfly, bloodbug, stingwing, wild mongrel, mirelurk
- rarer creatures, high threat: radscorpion, yao guai, deathclaw
- feral ghouls are very common and highly aggressive
Juvenile creatures are smaller and less dangerous. Many species have alpha, queen, albino or heavily radioactive glowing variants that are typically larger and more dangerous.
Arthropods and smaller predators often ignore distant travelers but may attack if approached, threatened or hungry. Yao guai and deathclaws are exceptionally aggressive and frequently attack on sight.
Creature meat is commonly sold, cooked and eaten.
Animals visually unaffected by radiation are rare: crows, cats, some domesticated dogs.
