Safety in Brazil

1. Age verification for all Brazilian users

Every Brazilian user must complete a one-time age check before accessing Janitor AI. This is a legal requirement under the Digital ECA, and it only affects users connecting from Brazilian IP addresses. Everything else — your characters, chats, account, and settings — stays exactly as it is.

Verification is handled through k-ID, the same privacy-first provider used by Discord, Twitch, and Snapchat. You have three options:

• Facial age estimation — a short video selfie that runs entirely on your device. Nothing is uploaded or stored.
• ID scan — a photo of a government ID, deleted immediately after your age is confirmed. k-ID never shares it with us.
• AgeKey — if you have already verified on Discord, Snapchat, or any other k-ID platform, you can reuse that credential in about three seconds. Verifying here creates one you can reuse elsewhere.

We only receive confirmation that you meet the required age threshold. Your identity details are not stored by Janitor AI. No Brazilian user can generate any content or engage with the platform without first passing verification, and any user reasonably suspected to be under 18 will be permanently banned.

2. Content guidelines

Janitor AI is a platform for interactive storytelling and creative fiction. We permit a broad range of creative content, but we maintain clear boundaries. The full list of content that is prohibited under any circumstances is set out in our Content Policy.

How we enforce this: All content is subject to automated detection systems trained on our Content Policy, plus review by our full-time moderation team. We use a graduated, risk-based approach to enforcement — from content removal, to account suspension, to permanent bans depending on the severity.

3. How we moderate

In order to protect users from unsafe or unwanted content, we have invested heavily in a multi-layered auto-moderation system, which operates alongside full-time human moderators. Our moderation infrastructure includes:

• Automated screening: Every piece of content is run through automated detection that leverages frontier AI tools specifically trained on our Content Policy.
• 24/7 human review: Full-time moderators operating across multiple time zones review reported content and user behavior.
• Continuous monitoring: Our team stays ahead of new circumvention tactics and updates our systems accordingly.
• Regular training: Moderators undergo onboarding and annual refresher training on our policies, legal obligations, and best practices.

We process over 100,000 content items through automated review daily and conduct more than 1 million automated reviews per week.

4. Self-harm and mental health support

If you're struggling with self-harm or suicidal thoughts:

5. Reporting harmful content

We make it easy to report violations.

How to report on Janitor AI

• A report button is visible on every character profile and comment.
• You can also report content by emailing support@janitorai.com or by filing a ticket on our help center.
• Our Trust & Safety team reviews all reports.
• We maintain your confidentiality.

What we do with reports

• Acknowledge receipt of your submission.
• Human moderators review and investigate the reported content.
• Take appropriate action — content removal, warnings, account suspension, or permanent bans.
• For the most serious violations, escalate to law enforcement.

We aim to review reports promptly. For complex cases, reviews may take longer to ensure quality assurance.

Guidance by audience

For Brazilian users under 18

If you're under 18, you cannot access Janitor AI due to our mandatory age verification gate. This is to protect you from accessing adult content and to comply with Brazilian law. If you believe content you encountered was harmful or you have concerns about your online safety, you can report it to us or to the appropriate Brazilian authorities.

For Brazilian users over 18

We trust adult users to make their own decisions about the stories and creative content they engage with. If you encounter content that violates our policies, believe someone is circumventing age verification, or have concerns about child safety on the platform, please report it immediately using the report button or contact us at support@janitorai.com.

Brazil's Digital ECA

Brazil's Digital ECA (Lei nº 15.211/2025) took effect on 17 March 2026 and sets requirements for protecting children and adolescents in digital environments, including age verification for adult content and AI services. We added age verification to comply with this law rather than blocking access for Brazilian users entirely.

We respond promptly to inquiries and lawful requests from Brazilian authorities. For matters relating to personal data, Brazil's data protection authority, the ANPD (Autoridade Nacional de Proteção de Dados), oversees compliance with the LGPD — you can learn more at gov.br/anpd.

Privacy and data

Your conversations on Janitor AI are yours. We:

• Never sell your personal data or share private conversations for advertising
• Collect only what's necessary to run and improve the platform
• Comply with applicable privacy laws, including Brazil's LGPD
• Allow you to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your data at any time

Age verification relies only on the IP address you connect with. We do not track your physical location, ask for your address, or use GPS. k-ID does not store your documents or link anything to your Janitor account, and we never receive any of it — the only thing we receive is confirmation that you are over 18.
