Why I left (from my announcement post):
No, I will not be moving to a new site. I likely won't even be silently stalking other creators' bots or responding to messages/comments. I'm really trying to break my habit of coming on here and talking to AI bots. Over the past three years, it has really done a number on me, both mentally and physically.
For a few months I've been distancing myself from this platform and AI as a whole while focusing on hobbies I used to like. But just recently, with the drama and a lot of major creators quitting and jumping ship, it really has helped me quit. I haven't talked to a bot for about three weeks now.
Anyone who knows me in real life knows that I'm a very politically active person. So I know the effects of AI on our brains, artists, the environment, and low-income communities. I've done the research, but for the longest time I had been ignoring all the chatter about AI and the negative effects. Meanwhile, I liked anti-AI tweets and videos, told myself I wasn't like the people who use ChatGPT for everything or AI bros, and commissioned artists almost every week. Slowly the use of AI had been eating away at me since it's the opposite of where I normally stand in my beliefs.
