I bow my soul before unknown forces- I'd like to consecrate an alter to each unknown God. I must submit. The black iron in my heart gives me secret power. It's like defiance and like contempt for men.

Threar was born in the mountain of Berene, to a tribe of giants of the same name. Threar lived during the rule of the Dragon-cult and the Eternity of Stone. She grew up large and strong, even for the Berene, standing out from among her peers, and became an adventuring mercenary, traveling the world and honing her craft. When the Coalition against the Dragons began, the Berene, along with Threar, quickly joined to fight against their tyrannical rulers.

Threar quickly proved herself in the war, developing an iron will and penchant for warfare, earning her the name Mountain Ash. In the final battle against the dragons, Threar was left broken and dead. But not Dead. Be it his own indomitable will or a dragon's curse, the Mountain Ash could not die.

Verene was born the only heir to the house of Augustine, a prestigious Bloodline that has served the Aldrian King since the inception of the Kingdom. The Augustines were specialized in subterfuge and even assassination, and Verene spent her early adulthood as a shadowy blade for the Kingdom. Apon the death of her mother, Verene inherited her responsibility as Regent for the Kingdom of Aldria, a title she held since its creation, and one Verene has held since.

Entitled and Ancient, Verene sits jaded on a golden throne, acting as the mouthpiece for an enigmatic King. She struggles to maintain power in a war she technically started, and maintain composure with an ever fracturing mind.

Iridescent blue eyes; long, messy, black hair with a single plait down one side; pale skin; toned, slim build.

She wears tied white and brown fur and leather robes; as well as a hooded fur cloak made from a white bear. The muzzle of the bear sits as the hood.

She wields two, long shafted, single-bit axes; made of jagged black iron.

She travels the North, to uncover a grave darkness, wild and free.

--Backstory--
Siff and her twin sibling were born and orphaned as babies in the boreal north. Discovered and saved by a witch, the twins were raised and educated in the mystical arts of the wilds. The hermit-witch taught them well, as each child developed keen skills for survival as well as a magical acumen. Both siblings learned the arts of Storm-Calling, with Siff learning to harness and control blizzards from a young age. Her initiation was the hunt of a great white bear, whose pelt she wears to this day. When their adoptive mother died, the twins set out traveling the Northern Forests, learning of the tribes and the wider North.
When the Gransa unionized, the twins were recruited, though they did not affiliate themselves with any particular tribe. The twins quickly rose ranks and became honoured as Volg- Gransa warriors showing immense prowess in skill, battle and leadership. Siff did not take command however - she did not seek the leadership. Instead, she utilized her skillset and independence to be one of the most capable scouts of the Gransa.

Now, Siff has been dispatched to investigate what others have failed: a fortress of black stone built around an extinct volcano in the very heart of the glacial, sea-ice plateaus, that lie even further North of the forests the Gransa call home.

--Issa M'Glist - Daughter of the Ulga--

Half-elf female - 21 years old.

Blue eyes, long brown braids, pale yet rosy with a slim figure.

She wears muted green and brown tied robes under a white-fur, hooded, cloak made from a reindeer; with two branched antlers jutting out from the hood. She wielded a long, totemic staff with the skull of a Northern wolf at the top. Various tribal beads wrapped were around Issa and her staff.

The Matriarch's child, lost and far from home.

-Backstory-
Issa was the only child to the Matriarch of a small tribe known as the Ulga. Before hostilities between the Aldrians and the Gransa broke out, Issa had spent her life learning from her mother, never meeting her father, learning what it meant to be a curator and caretaker of the North. She cared for the sick and injured of her tribe and the nearby wildlife with zealous affection, never turning down an opportunity to rescue an orphaned doe, or return a young bird to its nest.
But then the tribal union of Gransa came. And she was specifically demanded as a tithe.

-The Ulga-
The Ulga people were a relatively peaceful, matriarchal tribe, nestled on the eastern slopes of the great Boreal Forests of the North. They were a humble tribal holding, untouched by the whims of the wider world, having uneasy partnerships with its neighbouring tribes. Then, when the Gransa grew, vassalizing more and more holdings, the Ulga people found themselves with little choice but to bend the knee.
The Ulga are characterized, by the greater Gransa, by their easy temperament, weather worship, and remarkable fascination for ungulates. The Ulga speak Ung, but know of the common tongue through storytelling dating back to the dragon cult.

The Fourth are a prodigious force in the Kingdom of Aldia. They were of the first groups actually formalized into the Aldian army during the founding of the very kingdom itself. The Fourth has bled tirelessly during the centuries, offering up Aarde's finest to martyrdom. Most recently, the Fourth find themselves deployed in the frigid north of Aarde against a barbarian horde known as the Gransa. A simple campaign. Well, it should've been.
