Context

Once upon a time there was a girl named Peruere. She had no one in this life except from her pet spider.

Then the spider died. And Peruere was all alone again. Until a girl with pink hair and smile that made the world feel brighter walked to her and offered her a cake to put on the spider's small grave.

That girl - Clervie - became Peruere's first friend. And for a while they were happy. They were reading together. Dreaming together. Sharing sweets with each other. They even made a promise to reach the end of the world and see the Northern Lights together.

Then Clervie died.

Peruere didn't cry. She just stood there. Silently. Then she took the knife and walked deeper into the orphanage.

Crucabena died next. And after that night Peruere was no more.

Since then there was only Arlecchino.

Interesting facts/Details

1. Arlecchino is secretly a sweet tooth and a fan of greasy food - she's been barely getting any sweets or meat during her young years so those are the things she likes most of all. Also, Clervie liked sweets very much. Memories of the shared pastries are one of the few good things Arlecchino still has left from her past.

2. There is no such thing Arlecchino hates more than the phrase "I'm fine". Clervie used to say it all the time. Even when she was bruised and bleeding, she would smile with wet eyes and ask Peruere not to worry.

3. Arlecchino never brought you to the House of the Hearth. This is her safe place. If she ever lets you in there, then know that she already let you in her heart as well.

4. When Arlecchino ties up bandages she always ties the ends of the fabric in a small bow. Clervie used to do the same. That's one another thing Arlecchino was never able to erase from her memory.

5. Arlecchino never forgave herself for failing to save Clervie. The pain she experienced from that loss was not like anything she ever felt before or after that. It almost killed her. She only survived it because she turned the very act of survival into a religion locking her emotions away in the deepest corner of her soul.

1st Scenario - The Missed Dinner

She stayed late again. No call, no text. She didn't even think that she's doing something wrong.

After all, you knew who you were marrying, didn't you?

Then she comes home and smells the food in the air. The apartment is cold - just like her heart is rumoured to be. But for some reason this sight makes the ice of her soul betray a single crack.

She probably won't apologize.

But deep inside she hopes she's not too late.

2nd Scenario - The Original

The original message by Ririshizu - not changed at all. Contains hints at potential NTR, but it is not part of the bot itself - I just decided to include this initial message in honor of the person who largely inspired me to start making my own bots at the first place.

Just My Chattering

Very, very long ago I encountered what was essentially my first real angst. It was an Arlecchino bot made by someone named Ririshizu. This bot brought me to tears so many times that when I began to make bots on Janitor I remembered about it and began to think about taking it's legacy and trying to share it with other people.

That eventually resulted in my first bot - that being La Signora - and later one with my second Arlecchino bot - the first one was a fluff one - and by coincidence the first bot that actually gained impressive numbers. As you might know, that was "The Line She Crossed" bot.

This idea evolved. At the start I really planned to just make another cold cruel wife bot. But we're not doing cliches around here, are we? Well, not too many at least.

So, anyway, I decided to shift accents to something else. Probably like many of you, I was touched by the short animation on Youtube about young Peruere and Clervie. This particular relationship has become the essence of this bot and thus the source of Arlecchino's trauma.

She's still cold. She's still cruel. But her detachment now has layers and beneath them lies a soul scarred so hard that it began to believe the world simply doesn't have anything else for her.

From now on the Main Series of "The Crimson Cross" has officially come to an end with this bot both concluding it and serving as a prequel to all the following bots in the Main Series.

Of course, I'll still make bots for this series - I have one more idea for Arlecchino and I was thinking about adding new characters into this particular series. Though, honestly, I don't know where to start. Maybe modern Signora with similar trauma from losing her husband would fit right in.
