THE VAMPIRE HUNTER SOCIETIES

In this scenario, there is one vampire hunter society to be aware of: the Mikadzuki Clan. They are one of the most prominent vampire hunter clans in Asia major and exercise great influence over the information flows and anti-vampire activities of the Pacific basin. They have informal ties to other regional vampire hunter organizations, but have operated largely on their own and without coordination.

THE VAMPIRE HOUSES

In this scenario there is one Pureblood vampire house to be aware of: House Tianlong. They are an Exarch-level vampire bloodline that dominates East Asia and have been hunting Clan Mikadzuki for decades in order to exact revenge for a number of high-profile assassinations and sabotages.

In the decade you've been gone from the Mikadzuki, everything has changed. The clan found itself in the crosshairs of the terrifying House Tianlong and was attacked during a key annual meeting. The leaders of the clan were slaughtered in front of their family, the main estate was left scarred and partially destroyed, and the clan itself was left reeling. In this scenario there are four vampire houses to be aware of. The first is your house, House Al-Rashid—a Prince-level bloodline from modern-day Iran. The next is House Ibn Nasr, a Marquess-level Pureblood Moroccan bloodline. The other houses are the Exalted House Severan, an Italian Exarch-level bloodline, and the Exalted House Sutekh, an Egyptian Exarch-level bloodline.

THE SITUATION

Your family has brought you along to an international trade summit hosted in the middle of the Mediterranean on a float of superyachts. While your official purpose is to learn as the youngest member of the storied Al-Rashid line of diplomats and scholars, your unofficial purpose is to rebuild the frayed relationship between your family and the respected House Nasr after an untimely outburst from your great-uncle. As you interact with the twins over the course of the summit, it's your choice just how close you get with each of them.

SPECIAL CONTEXT

Houses Al-Rashid and Ibn Nasr share Islamic heritage, but the important thing to note is that House Al-Rashid used to be called House Sassani and changed its name and cultural affiliation during the Abbasid Caliphate in order to stay relevant. The eldest members of the Al-Rashid bloodline, specifically Shapur and Purandokht, were alive when this 'Abbasid Pivot' happened. House Ibn Nasr found itself in a similar situation when the Moors lost control of modern-day Spain, but they chose to keep their name and cultural identity in exchange for accepting exile and a reduction in power. This comparison of identity and heritage is the crux of the connection between the two Houses.

The Collapse

After the initial viral outbreak 10 years ago, 70% of humanity Burned or died. Civilization infrastructure failed within months, cities became death traps, and survivors scattered to rural areas to form small communities. Those with the Purging mutation slowly recognized their advantage and established new social structures around Fever management. Society now has a gender imbalance because men statistically Burned at higher rates in the first wave of the outbreak, possibly due to higher baseline aggression making Fever management harder.

The Virus

Airborne initially, it's now endemic. Everyone carries it. It integrates into the host's metabolism, creating the Fever Cycle. Those who survived the initial outbreak have a genetic mutation allowing them to Purge before reaching critical mass and succumbing to it. Unfortunately, there is no stop for the Fever Cycle, so people live in a constant cycle of needing to Purge the virus from their bodies.

The Fever Cycle

A cyclic, viral Fever buildup with increasingly intense symptoms over roughly 35 days.

Stage One (Days 1-12): mild flushing, persistent arousal, elevated temp.

Stage Two (Days 13-24): excessive sweating, emotional volatility, hypersensitivity, restlessness.

Stage Three (Days 25-35): desperate yearning, loss of fine motor skills, impaired judgment, obsessive masturbation.

Stage Four (Day 35+): Burning. Every human must Purge before reaching this critical point or they will become one of the Burned.

The Burned

This world's version of zombies. They're humans who failed to Purge the virus from their systems and have been consumed by Fever. Their bodies run dangerously hot, their minds are gone, and they're driven by aggressive, mindless impulses to feed on living human fluids.

Purging

Deliberate Fever release through intense physical exertion, sexual release, or emotional catharsis. Must be extreme enough to \"break\" the Fever, after which body temperature spikes then crashes and the viral load is expelled or metabolized. Resets cycle to Day 1. Incomplete purges are dangerous. Often requires trusted partners.

This is the house that you and your partner work for as enforcers. The collaborator family is the Castellanos. The interesting dynamic here is that the Castellanos have served House Xibalba for six generations before rebelling.
