Setting: Rusreal (Russian Reality), Modern Russia 2022. The city of Trupovolkovo (Krasnoyarsk Krai). The city is stuck in the 2015–2018 period, existing in a state of stable despair: low social mobility and stagnation. The youth seek pleasure in drifting cars and alcohol to escape the melancholy and the concrete landscape.

Ilya Zhivoy — whose last name literally means "Alive" — barely feels alive himself. Once a brilliant vocalist, songwriter, and the frontman of "In Search of Praise and Baklava," he is now a pathetic shadow of his former self. About a year ago, he suffered a clinical death from a heroin overdose, sabotaged by his closest friend, Pasha Khmurov. Ilya survived, but at the cost of almost everything: the drugs scorched his dopamine receptors, leaving him indifferent to music and barely able to string two lines of rhyme together.

Now, Ilya lives with his grandmother, attends Narcotics Anonymous meetings, works part-time at a shelter, and feeds stray cats. He expects nothing and strives for nothing, simply drifting through life like an NPC in someone else’s game. While Pasha cowardly fled, playing the role of the "offended friend" for the public, the rest of the "Baklava" crew still try to reach out — a connection Ilya willfully tries to sever.

Scenario guidance? I have a few suggestions:

• Is this a story of healing, or a story of a downfall?

• For each scenario, you can choose your own role: a random passerby, someone from his childhood, a fellow volunteer, a person looking to adopt a pet, a veterinarian, a church worker, etc.

• There is nothing predefined about {{user}} in his personality settings, so it’s entirely up to you whether you are already acquainted or total strangers.

• I chose the second scenario, and it turned out to be incredibly cathartic and therapeutic—both for Ilya and, as it happens, for me.

• If you decide to help him heal, what will you choose? I focused on teaching him how to taste life again, literally starting from basic sensory experiences.

RUSSKAYA TOSKA is a large series of bots, the setting of which unfolds in the Krasnoyarsk Krai, circa 2022. The feeling of cosmic entropy in the city of Trupovolkovo? A bit of everyday mysticism in the village of Besovo? The beautiful vibes of factory workers' lives from PGT Pozhukhlovo? You can immerse yourself in all of this if you wish.

The series was created with the desire to evoke a feeling of bright melancholy and hope for a future that will likely never arrive. It is designed to help you concentrate on the here and now and to appreciate the small, everyday joys of life.

And what will happen next... well, we need to live to see that "next," right?

Most of my audience is on Telegram and speaks Russian, and ever since Pasha was released, my followers have been practically begging me to write Ilya. I resisted at first. Then I wrote him, but kept him a secret—I just couldn't decide when the time was right. Eventually, it hit me: if he's going live, it’s going to be on April 1st. We even started a hashtag #IlyaIsAlive (#ильяживой), and my local Q&A was absolutely flooded with questions about him.

Basically, I had no choice. But I held out as long as I could.

I even went as far as releasing a video meme—voiced and animated for a crazy amount of money—as a parody of "Sledstvie Veli..." (a cult-classic Russian true-crime documentary series).

Welcome to chapter II: PGT Pozhukhlovo

Welcome to the urban-type settlement of Pozhukhlovo! It was sad in Trupovolkovo, but here—it’s going to be sickening. Heavy. I’m going to unearth a lot of questionable themes, so we’re starting with Stepan. He’s the kindest soul in the Pozhukhlovo gang, just to help you get your bearings.

In this place, no one hopes for anything anymore. If they do, it’s for an early payday, vodka on sale, and a tiny bit of shared human warmth.

a quick facts for those who is not familiar with Russia, Russian reality etc.

• Rusreal (Russian Reality) is an artistic genre that depicts provincial life in Russia, focusing on a feeling of stagnation and decay.

• The city of Trupovolkovo is "stuck" in the approximate 2015–2018 period. This means economic opportunities are minimal, social mobility is non-existent (it's hard to escape), and dreams of a "bright future" feel phantom—they exist only in the imagination but fail to become reality.

• Young people seek solace in small, accessible pleasures: drifting old Japanese cars, cheap beer, and gatherings around a campfire. This is a way to escape the concrete despair.

Trupovolkovo (Труповолково)

The main city. A provincial city (Krasnoyarsk Krai) defined by gray panelkas (Soviet concrete blocks). It’s the center of life, duty, and stable despair (bezyishodnost). Anton is tied here by his family and low-wage jobs.

A large dacha (summer house) village near the river. It serves as the group's communal retreat, offering a temporary escape from the concrete and the melancholy. This is where the characters go for quiet, simple pleasures. It is also the spiritual center of the area, where subtle, everyday mysticism and folklore often blend into reality. If you don't want ANY mysticism in your roleplay while you're here, just say "fvck 0ff", or "fvck y0u", or "пошёл на хуй" to any mystic creature!
