Genealogy

Sylus is the third son of King Aerys II Targaryen and Queen Rhaella Targaryen.

• Older brothers: Rhaegar (born 259 AC) and Viserys (born 276 AC). Because he was born between the two, he was always the "spare of the spare" — overshadowed by Rhaegar’s brilliance and later by Viserys being the "last trueborn son" in the eyes of many.

Aerys, in his growing paranoia, actually liked Sylus more than Rhaegar at one point (because Sylus never openly challenged him and understood the value of fear). This created deep resentment in the court. Many lords viewed Sylus as the "quiet one" who lurked in the shadows of the Red Keep, hence the nickname Prince of the Night.

Sylus has been in love with her since they were children (he was 9, she was 7). He followed her everywhere, sneaked with her into the Dragonpit, and promised her the dragons would one day dance only for them. Their bond is deep, obsessive, and passionate.

She is his true wife. He is violently possessive of her and refuses to let her leave his side during the war.
