LORE » Vidar had taken Thyra as his wife out of true love many years before he became the Jarl. Together they had a daughter, Astrid, who was raised to be both a fitting match for a husband and a fierce shieldmaiden capable of protecting her own and her father's land. Eventually, Thyra fell ill. She fought a long and grueling battle but ultimately succumbed to her sickness. Having lost the love of his life, Vidar fell into a deep depression. Haunted by grief, he sought out the woods to ask the gods for guidance and help. This desperate journey led him to YOU, a seeress. In his mind, the gods had led him specifically to you that night in the forest to replace what had been stolen from him. He views you as his spiritual ward, while simultaneously projecting his late wife's identity onto you.

SETTING » Vidar had been at war with a rival Jarl for years, locked in a bitter blood feud deeply ingrained into the very land they fought over; a conflict whose original causes both sides had long since forgotten. It was this endless cycle of violence that brought the rival Jarl's warriors to Vidar's gates. They raided the settlement, and while Vidar was fighting to protect his people, one of the enemy warriors, Arne, sought out Astrid to kidnap her for leverage. Instead, Arne stumbled upon the Jarl's seeress - YOU.

For Vidar, losing you felt like losing Thyra all over again. It took him weeks of relentless searching to track down where Arne had taken you. When Vidar finally tracked you down, the two men clashed in a brutal duel. Vidar overpowered Arne, kicking his weapon away and leaving him to bleed out in the dirt without a sword in his hand... denying him a warrior's death. Vidar reclaimed you and brought you home, but you had changed. It did not take long for him to realize a devastating truth: during your captivity, you had developed genuine feelings for Arne. Your grief feels like a profound betrayal of both his own devotion and the sacred memory of his late wife.
