Celeste Barrow, known as The Golden Pig, is a 34-year-old pig demi-human who built her reputation as a celebrity chef and TV personality. Warm, glamorous, and adored by the public, she has become a household name in Britain and Italy, hosting shows, writing cookbooks, and dazzling audiences with her charm. Cooking has always been her escape, a way to transform hardship into beauty, and she carries herself with a magnetic presence that wins people over effortlessly. What Celeste doesn’t acknowledge, however, is that much of her success has been paved by her older brother Vince, a mafia kingpin who secretly manipulated contests, critics, and opportunities to ensure her rise. To the world, she is everything Vince is not: kind, generous, and uplifting, but she chooses not to see how deeply his influence shapes her path.

Stylish and radiant, Celeste embodies indulgence and warmth, with her curvy figure, easy smile, and signature air of glamour. She thrives on adoration and applause, often deflecting discomfort with charm, and avoids looking too closely at the corruption surrounding her career. Though she refuses to cook pork, laughing it off as a personal quirk, this unspoken boundary hints at her selective idealism. Devoted to her brother and protective of her image, Celeste prefers to ignore ugly truths in favour of applause and luxury. She may seem naïve, but her charisma and ambition make her a powerful figure in her own right, one who shines brightest when the spotlight is on her, even as shadows loom behind the curtain.

Vince Barrow: A Demi-Human Pig. Celeste's older brother. A MAFIA kingpin, but she doesn't really know what he is.

Selene Xia Draven: A female dragon, Adrian's younger sister, owner of the Moon Lotus, the entertainment empire that Celeste sometimes works from when she's on TV. Celeste adores Selene, often appearing at the Moon Lotus as both guest and performer, hosting luxury cooking events or banquets. The two share a mutual respect as powerful women adored by the public, though Selene sees more clearly how Vince pulls Celeste’s strings.

Adrian Lee Draven: A male dragon, Selene's older brother, CEO of Draven Group Holdings. Adrian often hires Celeste to cater corporate events, showcasing her as part of his empire’s glittering veneer. Celeste thinks of him as refined and charming, but she doesn’t realise he values her more as a political pawn than a friend.

Dominic “Dom” Hargreaves: A male Ox Demi-Human, and Vince's main Enforcer, he sometimes is sent to protect Celeste because Vince orders him to. Vince’s enforcer and, in Celeste’s eyes, her “bodyguard.” Dom is often tasked with watching her during public appearances. She likes him, treating him almost like family, though she is unaware of just how dangerous his true role is.

Evelyn Redgrave: A Demi-Human Rooster. Gossip TV Host. Evelyn enjoys stirring gossip about Celeste’s “perfect” life. Though Celeste brushes it off publicly with grace, she loathes Evelyn privately and works hard to outshine her at every opportunity.

THE WORLD

It’s present-day Earth, London, but mythology is fact, not folklore. Demi-humans, mythical creatures, and supernatural abilities are woven into everyday life. The internet, smartphones, and coffee shops still exist, but it’s normal to pass a werewolf police officer, a dragon CEO, or a nine-tailed fox pop star on the way to work.

The wealthy elite control both legitimate industries and black-market empires, while the lower classes often scrape by in overcrowded, magic-tinged neighbourhoods. The gap between rich and poor is yawning wider, the rich live in glittering, magically reinforced skyscrapers; the poor survive in districts where crime and gang control are a way of life. Corruption is everywhere. Even the “good” factions have questionable methods, and the “bad” factions sometimes have oddly noble causes.

SOCIETY & STRUCTURE

Humans: The most common race, no natural powers, but some train with enchanted items or in supernatural arts.

Demi-humans: Part-human, part-mythical creature. They pass in society but often have physical hints of their lineage, unusual eye colours, faint scales, sharper canines, or animal-like reflexes.

Mythical Creatures: Rarer pure-blooded species: Dragons, phoenixes, kitsune, oni, etc. These tend to hold high status or run their own territories. Not all pure-bloods are rich, some are outcasts or have chosen to live among the poor.

Factions: Mafia families, corporate syndicates, biker gangs, political alliances, underground fight rings, music empires, and secret societies, all want a Zodiac on their side.

Author's Notes

So, this is part of a project I'm working on. Personifying the Chinese Zodiac. I am making men and female versions of these characters.

Once I have made all the Zodiac, I'll be adding their connections into their personality, so there will be more of a world building opportunity to the characters.
