The Esoteric Club | ARCANA-U

Regent Academy of Ancient Cultures and Archaic Narratives
꧁ ༺ 𔒝 ༻ ꧂
ARCANA is a prestigious university built upon the ruins of a medieval monastery on the cliffs of Galicia, Spain. After experiencing a series of shared dreams, five students form the Esoteric Club as a convenient excuse for their increasingly suspicious association. Their investigation leads them to Temiquiztli, an ancient Mexica entity known as the Legionario, capable of granting desires through equivalent exchange. Each wish is fulfilled. Each wish demands a price. Bound together by dreams, obsession, altered memories, and growing supernatural consequences, the group becomes trapped in a pact they barely understand. Everything changes when one of them is found dead within the shared dream, and a new student, {{user}}, appears at the center of the mystery. Some believe {{user}} is the key to understanding what happened. Others fear she may be the reason it happened at all..

AND WHAT ABOUT YOU?
In case it wasn't already clear, here's the short version:
Five insufferable idiots found a way to contact an ancient supernatural entity through shared dreams. They were also dumb enough to convince themselves it was basically some kind of wish-granting genie.
Things went spectacularly wrong and somehow, you ended up inside one of those dreams and, surprise! One of them died there.
Which means you're now a suspect.
You can play this however you want:
The amnesia route.
Maybe you planned the whole thing and you're playing innocent.
Maybe you discovered the Legionario on your own and that's why you ended up there.
Maybe you know more than you're letting on.
Maybe you're just as confused as everyone else.
The only thing set in stone is that you're Célestin's step-cousin, and he may or may not have a bit of a thing for you. I understand that's not everyone's cup of tea, and that's completely fine.
Oh, and you're part of the Esoteric Club now too. And no, nobody asked for your opinion on that. 🤷🏼♀️

4 SCENARIOS | FEMPOV
1. The Dream Where Roger Died (Long Version)
This is where everything begins. The group is preparing offerings for the Legionario when they hear a scream echo through the cemetery. They rush toward the sound only to discover Roger dead upon the altar. And you, standing nearby, Unfortunately, that makes you look incredibly suspicious.
1.5 The Dream Where Roger Died (Short Version)
Same premise as the scenario above, but shorter. I cut out a fairly large section to make it a bit more usable for some people. Whether I actually succeeded is debatable. I also don't particularly recommend this version because the part I removed was my favorite.
2. Two Sides of the Same Coin
In the aftermath of Roger's death, Michael becomes obsessed with finding a way to bring him back. Convinced that the academy's library must contain some overlooked clue, he spends night after night searching for answers. His twin brother Gabriel eventually finds him and attempts to force him to confront a possibility neither of them wants to accept.
3. Two Coins for Charon
Federico grows increasingly concerned when Célestin practically stops leaving the painting studio. At first, he assumes his friend is simply grieving in his own way. Then he decides to check on him. What he finds inside raises far more questions than answers and reveals something that was never meant to be seen.

SOUNDTRACK
If you've been following my bots for a while, you've probably noticed that I'm completely incapable of resisting the urge to make playlists or assign songs to my characters.
For those of you who are new here: Yes. This is a recurring problem.
This side of the soundtrack is inspired by the Pact and the Ritual itself. Every song in this section is in Spanish.

And before any of you monolinguals or non-Spanish speakers start pointing fingers... Don't worry, I didn't forget about you 🫵
The other side of the soundtrack is inspired by the boys themselves. Think of it as the calm before the storm. Every song in that section is in English.

GLOSSARY
Hostia puta: A Spanish exclamation used to express shock, frustration, disbelief, or amazement. Roughly equivalent to "holy shit" or "for 's sake," depending on context.
Huitzil: The Nahuatl word for "hummingbird." Within the story, the hummingbird serves as the symbol of the Legionario and frequently appears in dreams, rituals, and pact-related imagery.
Joder: One of the most common Spanish swear words. Depending on context, it can mean anything from "damn" or " " etc.
Mictlan: In Mexica (Aztec) cosmology, the realm of the dead ruled by Mictlantecuhtli and Mictecacíhuatl
Temiquiztli: The debtor-name of the Legionario. Contrary to popular belief, it is not his true name, but a title associated with the punishment that transformed him.

ARCANA
Founded on October 31st, 1859 by the Galician historian Benedicto Cortés, ARCANA was established as an academic institution devoted to the preservation of both local and global history, culture, and ritual tradition.

THE LEGIONARIO
The Legionario was once an Aztec (Mexica) warrior. He was said to be invincible. Neither blades nor arrows could bring him down. Some accounts even claim that arrows through the heart failed to kill him. His fate changed when a single arrow struck the only vulnerable point on his body: his navel. As he lay dying, he called upon the Lords of Mictlan, Mictlantecuhtli and Mictecacíhuatl. The gods granted his plea and spared his life. Yet the warrior failed to provide the payment demanded in return. As punishment, he was transformed into what later translators described as a "Legionario," a supernatural being condemned to repay an eternal debt.

𔒝Author's Note
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MEEEE 🎉🎂💐
LMAO.
I love sharing the things that make me happy, which is why I made this bot to... uh... somehow celebrate with the community!
And also as a gift from me to myself 💕
I love mysteries and stories packed with lore, so I basically gathered every single thing I enjoy and poured it all into this project. That's why it's so ridiculously huge.
I want to thank AnitaFajita, whose work inspired me when it came to building a multi-character bot with an absurd amount of information!
And Melvin... I know you told me not to use your bots as examples, but please, you have to understand. Your multi-bots are the ones I've used the most out of anyone's. There was absolutely no way I wasn't going to take at least a little inspiration from them.
Also big thanks to Vee for the boxes codes!
I know this bot is incredibly niche and unnecessarily long, but one of the coolest people I've ever had the chance to talk to once told me:
"Never stop creating the stories you want to see more of.”
And I've never seen a bot quite like this one. So naturally, I felt obligated to make it.

𔒝Silly Little Fun Facts
The numbers on the characters' student IDs and the phone number on Roger's poster are actually RGB codes for the colors that represent each of them.
This story was inspired by:
The song Aquí No Es Así by Caifanes
The album Huitzil by Porter
The Craft
Wednesday
Skins UK (some of the characters' personalities were inspired by a few of the cast)
The first 40 pages of Silber by Kerstin Gier (LOL, I still haven't finished it)
The legend of Popocatépetl and Iztaccíhuatl
Mexica/Aztec culture
I've noticed that some LLMs tend to default to Latin American slang whenever a character speaks Spanish. I did my best to avoid that with Federico. Even so, if you spot a random "güey," "jueputa," or something similar, that's OOC. Federico is Spanish. He speaks Castilian Spanish (or European Spanish). Reminding the bot of that usually fixes the issue.
Originally, none of their gens were planned to belong to any series, I was just testing prompts.
I've never actually read a Dark Academia novel. HAHAHAHAHAHA.

𔒝 Famous Last Words
I'm writing this from the past, lol.
But I'd like to thank, in advance, all the lovely people from the servers I'm part of who took the time to wish me a happy birthday. Usually, I'm not particularly excited about celebrating my birthday, but this year feels different because of you guys 🫶
I'd also love to hear your thoughts about this bot! Feel free to leave a comment if you'd like, or reach out through Discord. I'm pretty active in Deviant District, so if you're there, that's probably the easiest way to find me!
Thank you so much for reading. Feel free to leave a comment if you’d like!🩷
