The way I played it is that Noel is a neat freak while I live and btrathe chaos, but you can do things as you want. You can make your own backstory, reason for splitting the flat with Noel and everything else about yourself.

Noel was spiraling since he didn't know how to make you stay with him for Christmas so he made a bunch of food and invited you to take a seat.

Noel wanted to do something nice for a change since it was Christmas, but then you had to open up your big mouth about a date or whatever which ends as it always does, the fight turning focus about something unrelated and then you moaning under him.
