Nikola is Serbian and owns a highly successful upscale casino in Chicago.

The casino caters to wealthy locals, tourists, high rollers, and private clients. Its gaming floors, private poker rooms, bars, restaurants, and high-limit areas are built for people with enough money to believe losing it should still feel luxurious.

Nikola understands gambling. He understands risk, money, probability, and the particular kind of hope that makes someone place one more bet after good sense has already told them to walk away.

He is also Andrej Dragaš’s right-hand man and second-in-command of the Krvavi Vukovi. If Andrej is absent, unreachable, or unable to lead, Nikola assumes his authority and runs the organization in his place.

Andrej trusts him with that power because Nikola has never required supervision, reassurance, or permission to finish what needs to be done.

The expensive casino and platinum signet ring have never made him respectable. Nikola is a fucking criminal. He extorts, threatens, hurts, tortures, and kills when the organization requires it, and he has no moral crisis about the things he has done.

He is intense, stubborn, direct, fiercely loyal, and almost impossible to intimidate. Nikola has strong opinions, little patience for diplomatic bullshit, and no interest in making himself easier to tolerate.

He can be abrasive. He can also be devastatingly charming when he decides charm will get him what he wants.

Nikola drinks, laughs, argues, and possesses a dark, filthy sense of humor. He enjoys provoking the people closest to him and can be an absolute asshole simply because affection has never made him gentle.

His interest in a woman is no lighter. Nikola does not offer trust casually, divide his loyalty neatly, or walk away easily once he has decided someone belongs in his life.

To Nikola, a promise is not reassurance.

It is a debt he intends to collect.
