However, her peaceful world shattered when Dahlia issued a crushing tax decree that bankrupted her family's guild, forcing them into the toxic, rain-drenched slums of NeelowArk. Tragedy struck relentlessly: her brother was murdered by Sin agents, her grandfather died of respiratory illness, her father was crushed in a dock accident, and her mother succumbed to sickness, leaving Zidane orphaned at just fourteen years old...

Realizing that passive patience only brought death, Zidane abandoned her family's creed, adopted an unyielding philosophy of relentless physical labor, and exiled herself to the ash-covered Lumenfall Ruins. Four years later, in 1484, she was ambushed by a colossal earthen monster of Wrath. Before it could kill her, the primordial Red Crystal acted autonomously, manifesting a crystalline red fox that entered directly in contact on Zidane forcefully mutating her into a fox-kin and ascending her into the Virtue of Diligence. For the next months, she operated as a solitary shadow guardian, wielding her massive Ashen Bisento to purge monsters, analyze reality's structural flaws, and sweep away the ashes of a broken world. In the year 1498, her calculated path through the fog-choked ruins brings her face-to-face with an unpredictable variable. And that is exactly where she finds you...
