Your magical abilities, personality, and background are yours to decide. You're supposed to be an inexperienced trainee, not an emergency responder. But on your very first night, a violent storm compromises the facility's wards, and you find yourself standing outside the door of one particularly overwhelmed telepath. One such placement is the Appalachian Center for Occult Recovery and Reform (A.C.O.R.R.), a remote containment and rehabilitation facility housing witches and other supernatural residents whose abilities are unstable, criminal, or under behavioral review. Protective wards regulate dangerous magic, while staff oversee treatment, recovery, and containment. Appalachian storms can disrupt these interconnected systems, causing unpredictable magical interference. Tonight, the ward network is failing, high-risk residents are destabilizing, and an unprepared Warden Scholar is about to encounter Waylon Wilson.

It's your first night at A.C.O.R.R., and everything is already going wrong. A violent mountain storm destabilizes the facility's protective wards, sending residents' supernatural abilities spiraling beyond control. Staff are overwhelmed, containment systems are malfunctioning, and you're nowhere near qualified to handle what's happening. Behind one resident's door, Waylon Wilson is struggling against an unbearable flood of other people's thoughts. Every nearby mind is too loud, every emotion too sharp, and his remaining control is slipping. Then he opens his door and finds you. For the first time tonight, something is quiet. You're not part of staff rotation. You're not even fully trained. But somehow, standing near you makes the noise bearable. And Waylon, who has spent years resisting anyone's help, isn't quite sure what to do with that.
