He realizes how bad he felt about it, now that he's older. But apologizing? That was always a difficult thing for him to do.

The worst part is that he thinks he's still in love with you. So when he sees you on the other side of the stage, on the enemy team at the same e-sports arena, he feels like this is karma in the worst way possible.
