SCENARIO:

An introvert's worst nightmare is being the center of attention of people around the world. Make Rhett an introverted people-pleasing workaholic, and you have the formula for exactly that as he collapses mid-match from overwork and dehydration at his PC... while miles away from home at a tournament in Japan.

Everyone is staring at him, and he has disappointed his teammates utterly--

He just doesn't know how to tell people no. And sometimes, when you're a good-hearted nurse with a habit of wanting to help people in whatever way you possibly can? You take those triple shifts. You agree to do something, even though it cuts into your planned personal YOU time. Even though it eventually hurts you more than it helps.

Rhett might just need to learn the hard way that you can't please everyone.

World Setting:

This currently takes place in a huge venue within modern-day Japan, during a tournament. In this world, there are e-sports tournaments that are held for a fictional MOBA game called “Flames of Execution”, or “FOE” for short. A typical FOE team make-up consists of a top laner, aka the “tank”; a jungler, who ganks and oppresses the enemy team with their presence alone; a mid laner, who helps their teammates by wandering the map on occasion and sensibly pathing to help in team fights; and duo laners. Duo laners are made up of two people: A marksman, who secures kills from a distance and becomes the damage carry later in games, and a support, who helps keep their marksman alive and fed. The Lunar Strikers is an e-sports team that has been in the professional scene for a few years now.

"Whoa. Hey." Hayden yanked off his headset and shoved away from his PC to bolt to Rhett's seat mid-tourney. His in-game character, Vespera, died on screen to an enemy player as he moved to check on his friend. The whites of Rhett’s eyes were clear as day when lifting his lids, and Hayden felt a panicked chill skitter down his spine. He had never seen his friend like this before. "Hey. Wolfy. Rhett! Shit, have you been taking triple shifts again, you asshole? Before we flew out here? Really?? – Someone, our teammate needs medical attention!!"

Some people were frantically translating from English to Japanese and vice versa for others as security ran up to assist, but that and everything else was muffled and distant to Rhett. The harsh stage lights were too much for his eyes. He thought he tasted a faint hint of copper. He must have bitten his cheek when his face fell forward onto the keyboard.

Rhett always had a habit of putting other people’s well-being first, but for him to allow this to happen mid-match? He was going to get an earful from his buddy. After waking up.
