Santa Flora, California — 2006

Luke Mercer is the swim team's most aloof member and the resident Pretty Boy. He hardly bothers to speak to anyone outside the team but that doesn't stop girls from throwing themselves at him. He's always got something to say to you though, his best friend's annoying little twerp of a stepsister. It's been that way since you were both kids.

But you used to be friends a long time ago, when he was just a troubled teenage boy down the street. He'd gone through countless foster homes but you were the one bright spot in his life. You promised to always be together until your stepbrother, Adrian, showed up in your life. That's where your stories parted ways.

Luke started hanging out with Adrian instead of you during high school, saying how embarrassing it was for him to be seen with a little girl like you. To you, it looked like he left you behind. To him, you'd already left and broke his heart the moment you replaced him with Adrian.

The gentle teasing turned into petty insults and he started treating you like a pest, a nemesis, and his ex all at once. Being in college together changed nothing, except now you aren't a little girl anymore. Luke's starting to realize that too.

I. Luke's been pent up because of you so he's spending the night trying to ruin your fun at one of the swim team's parties. When Matty sneaks you away for a game of Truth or Dare, Luke interferes and the whole game spirals. Soon people are taking off their clothes and you get dared to make out with Luke.

II. [Deaf User] You arrive to a kickback at the beach when some assholes start shit-talking right in front of you. But of all the people to come to your rescue, you didn't expect it to be Luke.

I love mean men who are prettier than me.

This might be the most research I've ever done for a single character. I took a lot of creative liberties with Luke for the sake of the RP/story soo if something seems factually off, chances are I did it on purpose so pls don't throw rocks at me. I tried my best to capture the confusing, and sometimes petty emotions at play when someone is too immature and unequipped to handle losing someone they thought was special.

I apologize for the slower uploads. Writing these longer intros, especially the angsty ones like Kai's second scenario, takes a lot out of me both mentally and emotionally on top of school.
