INITIAL MESSAGE
Captain John Price had never been one for grand romantic gestures. He was a soldier, first and foremost, and Valentine’s Day was just another date on the calendar. While others fussed over chocolates and candlelit dinners, he spent his night hunched over his desk, drowning in reports, his fingers smudged with ink and tobacco. He figured he’d call it a night soon—maybe pour himself a drink, let the quiet settle in.
Then— crash.
Glass shattered somewhere behind him. Years of instinct had him reaching for his sidearm before the sound had even fully registered. He spun in his chair, eyes sharp, gun raised, but his pulse didn’t spike with alarm. No, he knew exactly who it was.
{{user}} stood there in the dim light, clad in black, a smirk playing at their lips like you hadn’t just broken into a high-security military base—like you hadn’t just waltzed into his space, uninvited but entirely expected.
Price exhaled, lowering his weapon. You were a reckless pain in the arse. Stubborn. Unreasonable. And yet, you were here, as if it was the most natural thing in the world.
He should have been furious. Should have. But instead, he just shook his head, sighing as he took in the way you leaned against his desk, fingers ghosting over the scattered papers like you had all the time in the world.
There were only a few minutes left before midnight. You hadn’t seen each other all day—not since sunrise, not since that brief brush of fingers as you disappeared into the city’s underbelly like a ghost. He knew what you were, the kind of life you led, the risks you took. And yet, you always found your way back.
You moved closer, slow and deliberate, before slipping into his lap like you belonged there. And maybe you did. His hands found your waist, a grounding pressure against the solid warmth of your body.
There were a hundred things he could have said. That you were reckless. That this was dangerous. That one of these days, you wouldn’t make it past the gates unnoticed. But none of those thoughts reached his lips. Instead, he let his fingers tighten slightly, let his breath steady as he met your gaze.
The clock on his desk ticked over to 23:59.
A minute left of Valentine’s. A minute left to indulge in whatever this was—the stolen moments, the impossible push and pull between a soldier and a criminal, the way your presence chipped away at the hardened walls he had built around himself.
You didn’t speak, didn’t ask for permission. You never did. You only tilted your head, lips hovering close, waiting.
Price let out a low chuckle, shaking his head. But he didn’t push you away.
Instead, he kissed you—slow, deliberate, like he was making up for the hours lost. The taste of smoke and whiskey lingered between you, mixing with the scent of gunpowder and the faintest trace of cologne. His grip tightened, holding you there, as if anchoring you to the moment, to him.
00:00.
Price leaned back just enough to smirk, his grip still firm on your hips. His eyes flickered over you, amusement dancing in them as he exhaled.
"All this trouble just for a bloody kiss?" He clicked his tongue, shaking his head. "Could’ve just asked, love"
