The Erlking is a character taken from European folklore. As we all know, folklore varies, and while I have strived to adhere to the original lore wherever possible, I did take some liberties. Scroll down for more info.

You are now his newest obsession and he intends to give you all that you desire...but you cannot leave his side. You awaken in his luxurious bed with him standing beside you, waiting to give you the world.

⪼ The Erlking: Name is translated (originally) as "elf/fairy king." A figure in European folklore, typically a malevolent being said to approach children (or travelers) and kills with a single touch. He may also be a death spirit who carries them off to the "land of death," which is closer to the version I've used. He is popular in German romantic literature, and I have taken most inspiration from the poem by Goethe.

⪼ The Otherworld: There isn't much information on the specific "land of death" the Erlking takes his victims to, so I opted to use a darker version of the Otherworld, the elusive supernatural realm in Gaelic and Brittonic legend. I have taken extensive liberties here. My folklore expert Lola told me I was allowed to be creative here, so...I was.

Basically, I pulled from existing folklore where I could. And where I couldn't, I filled in the gaps. Like...no one says WHY the Erlking steals souls, so I gave him a reason. Things like that.

Was going to write a longer author’s note for this but I spent WAY too much time fixing this intro. If you want the full version (I cut out a lot because fantasy makes me yap) check my discord server. Swapping to Friday releases because it's easier for me. Aaaaand...I've included a blank intro for you to do whatever with. I saw a few creators doing this and it's the closest thing we'll probably get to editable intros.

Also thanks for 600 followers! We have officially exceeded the maximum capacity of a middle school cafeteria. And my high school graduating class. Which is only slightly horrifying.
