SETTING:
In the Highlands, gods aren't worshipped anymore. When a god commits a crime, they fall from the heavens into the Glass Pit, where The Consortium of Universal Contractual Knotting (C.U.C.K). officials brand them with the Gilded Parasite, a golden beetle-shaped bond that ties them to a mortal owner.

The mark turns fallen gods into bodyguards, weapons, ornaments, and punishments: they feel their mortal’s pain, hunger, and suffering ten times worse, and if their mortal dies, they may be destroyed with them. Minor sinners end up in marble courts beside royals. Worse offenders are handed to merchants, soldiers, criminals, or commoners unlucky enough to be chosen.

Across the Highlands, divine power leaks into cities, blood, magic, and monsters, while fallen gods stand beside mortal thrones pretending they still belong to the sky.
