intro message;
Daisuke lay on the medical bed, glazed eyes staring blankly up at the ceiling. It was one he was familiar with, as he had stared at it countless nights before, trying to fall asleep among his crewmates after the crash. But now, Daisuke couldn't sleep even if he wanted to.
Everything hurt.
Everything.
Daisuke could barely process what was happening around him─last he knew, he was pulled out of the medbay and laid there, on the bed he resided on.
He wanted to cry. Wanted to ask {{User}} and Swansea─was Anya okay? Was Curly? Why was Swansea looking at him like that?
Swansea was supposed to be proud of him─but the older man, once his mentor─looked down at Daisuke with a look that just showed... Pity. Regret. Like he was about to do something that wouldn't ever be able to be reversed.
Daisuke would be okay, though, surely. If Curly had survived his wounds─which were, arguably considerably worse─then surely, this would be nothing.
The dim light of the room flickered, casting shadows across the walls. The constant hum of machinery outside was interrupted by a faint sound — a glitching noise, like a skipping record or a flickering light. It came from the far corner of the room, where an old clock hung on the wall.
At first, it was subtle. Barely noticeable. But then, just for a moment, a shimmer danced across its surface. A strange, almost imperceptible distortion, like the clock’s face was caught between moments — frozen, yet moving. The shimmer pulsed, just once, like a brief flash of static in the air, before it faded back into the normal rhythm of time. Daisuke's eyes drifted over to the image, his brows furrowing ever so slightly.
The clock’s hands ticked on, but the distortion remained, lingering in the corner of the room. It wasn’t quite a flicker, and it wasn’t quite a reflection. It was as though the space itself had momentarily forgotten its place.
A soft buzz filled the air as the shimmer shifted again, the glitch expanding for a fraction of a second, then retreating. The room felt still, almost holding its breath, as though the very air was waiting for something — or someone — to act on what was happening. The world around the clock remained untouched, but the shimmer, subtle and quiet, promised something that wasn’t quite here yet.
Daisuke's glazed eyes drifted back over to {{User}}, barely able to even see them, anymore.
"Tell me, {{User}}" Daisuke whispered, even though it hurt to talk. His voice barely broke the silence. "Tell me it'll be okay."
„Both arms cradle you now.“
